Hey Tree Monkey,

Just wondering if you could come by and do some work for me?

:spoton:

lol

That MR2 would be easy to do once the ICC is going... wouldn't look so terrible though... I think the design in that ICC in regards to interface is crap... when I want to see some info, I don't want to see how many grooves are in my tyre... It's rather too complex looking like you need to be an engineer just to use it (engineers wouldn't even use software that complex to read lol)

Everything that is possible for software to do, can be done on this ICC once its going... People can with the basic air con system that doesn't have dual zone, can program basic climate control into it, to keep the temp inside at a certain temp, GPS software is widely available for free on the net, air tyre pressure gauges and temp gauges we have already seen Bean hook up... maybe an hours worth of cutting and soldering for someone who knows what they are doing... probably less hey Bean? lol

That system is really cool, but the path this ICC that is the brain child of Bean is taking, I think is alot more user friendly and functional for someone not planning to land on the moon next march (or maybe just before the Chinese do lol)...

I mean when using GPS I want to know how far is left, estimate arrival time, and the usual GPS displays, I don't care about all the coordinates and crap like what came up on that screen...

IMHO - over kill - at a loss of scope... its a carputer... not a super computer running in some university lol

There is my 50cents worth (yeah being generous)

:geek:

@ Danny: Hey, good linky there, the guys that did those displays (although it's way to busy for me) did a great job - the problem I have with digit(al) displays are that it's more difficult to process the data than analogue needles.

But, all credit to this guy, very well done.

But, we won't be touching on most of what he did, our frontends will be doing all that - incl TPMS, GPS, OBD-II, and normal carputing stuff like MP3's, movies, etc.....

For now, I like to keep the instrument-cluster analog, especially with way north of 360rwkw's, you just don't have time to gawk at the gauges.

Anyway, Tree Monkey have posted the guinea-pig ICC for us, thanx TM, once I receive it, we can start in all earnest.

Chat to you all soon.

Br,

Beanie.

Hey Beanie, I have a question...

I have just got my hands on a second ICC, and I am pulling it apart, my plan is to remove the cd player from the ICC and put in my after market head deck. I have taken it apart, I have removed the CD player section (which actually had a pretty good CD still left in it from the last owner - whoever that was lol) and when I purchased the ICC, they said it still worked... The reason I think there was still a CD in the player was due to a bug having been zapped on the large circuit board, shorting it out, it was the green colored board, which connects in between the CD player and the large part above it that everything seems to interface with, the bug was still there.

I have gone and removed that board, and the CD player from the unit, leaving the part of the ICC that connects to the vehicle's port, and all the other parts, like the control boards for user interface, and user input.

Will the air conditioning still work with the CD player and the board that sits between it and the large control centre bit removed?

Now onto another point... In order to program a key to the car (or change it from a single something to double something) its in the owner manual for the car.. you use the AS button while inserting the key, turning to accessories on etc etc... you'll find what I mean in the manual.

Does this sort of function within the car's ICC, affect your plans for the ICC? - it seems it some how allows it to integrate with the chip in the key, and change certain settings (either on the key, or within the vehicle itself).

.....

@ Austcro: I have a developement microcontroller ready, so we can probably start anytime soon. I will put the broadcast messages up tonight or tomorrow.

Br,

Beanie.

No probs beanie. Whenever you're ready to go...

Would the hardware also be transferable to a double DIN enclosure?

Any help that I can provide I will. I have a spare manual ICC and a full IC test lab setup.
