I personally dont worry about things that may never happen.

Give Bob the tinter a call Chris, i can introduce you if you want, good ol Bobby will hook you up with the best tint job ever. I wouldnt recommend him if he was crap, he's done 8 cars for me personally so far.

Hi Mick

Bob tinted my last two cars @ 18%. However just the thought of an accident and having it denied scares me to get it at 18% again... The new Sentry Security Tint is not too bad and legal.. Dealer has offered to do it at a good price so may end up doing that and just keeping things above board.

Cheers

Chris

I've never had an issue with the police or insurance companies regarding the tint, not when I hit a roo and fox at night, not when the truck side swiped me, and not all the times I've been pulled over for RBT's, speeding, etc...

Hi Chris,

If you want the darkest looking film but still want it to be legal and not interfere with your radio reception, then I'd recommend you seek out a film called AT EMINM 35. This is a non metal film with a 33% vlt (visible light tranmission) when fitted to the green coloured glass in our Fords. It has the highest heat rejection of any non metal film at 60% yet still looks darker than most other legal films. It's distributed in Australia by MEP Films and should set you back about $250-300.

One of my work colleages has the 3M CS20 (lower the number the darker the film) on his Typhoon and mine doesn't look that much lighter except it's legal. It comes in at 33% with a light meter because the factory Ford glass is a little darker than most other cars, but if you ever get questioned it's totally legal because it's sold as a 35% film.

Any other questions just drop me a line and I'll be happy to help.

I have had 5% on all my xr6t's and insurnace never knocked me back even when my car got written off.

The only issue I have had recently is cause now I own a black xr6t with 5% and 20's on it the cops defected me twice for 5% window tint and it was the same cop.

Never had issues before but this cop has it in for me and never said anything about my 20's....abit rude I think. So now my car has 35% which is way to light for my liking but goes from mirror tint to normal 35% just for something different.

If you want it get it hey want can happen you get defected, rip it off and try again ;)

I hope you realise that this film is still illegal and likely to get you defected again. Any film with more than 10% reflectivity is illegal (mirror tint is around 80% reflectivity). Having 5% is just asking for trouble, it's only a matter of time before something goes horribly wrong.

There are guys here on the coast that will do 5% on the sides and 35% on the front screen, that's just plain crazy and will one day probably kill someone. I had an incedent many years ago where I nearly took out a kid late at night on his BMX without lights at an intersection because I couldn't see out of the tint clearly.

Good Luck
