What about an annual leave day Mickus? Can't you just say you need to take a "personal" day? I know up here they are pretty reasonable when you need to take a day off, as long as you use one of your annual leave days. By working weekends we accrue A.L. days fairly quickly though

Thought about that, but the only guy who can open the store here is my supervisor, and he's on 4 weeks A/L.........

Cant you just take a half day off??

Yeah I might lean towards that.

I might tell my boss that I need to see a specialist, I did have some ultrasounds done recently, even though all that is cleared up and fine now, my boss doesnt need to know that......

flexitime options?? or say you have a proctology exam and need the hours off to go home and cry about being violated by another man mwahaha

That is f*^kin funny! :buttrock:

If this other co has approached you, then you have a fair certainty of being employed by them. So you don't have anything to lose with your current employer. The only thing holding you back would be if you haven't made your mind up if you want to go or not.

Got any kids Mick?

You could always use the good old - "Kids got in trouble at school and I have an appointment with the principal this afternoon"

Or

"Kid is sick and I have to pick him/her up from school and look after him/her for the afternoon.

That way someone else has the sickness and you don't have to pretend to be sick the next day, when you turn up to work looking fine.....

Either way it’s a lie....but sometimes there is no other option. Good luck with the job.

I'd just take the day as annual leave.

We turn over a lot of people at my work and one thing I've realised is that telling people you're going for another job is always a mistake.

I wouldn't lie about it. I just wouldn't tell them. What you do with your leave is your own business.

Depends on your boss' personality, and whether you are easily replacable I guess.

I've never been in the situation, but a good mate of mine was offered another job (he's a sparky).

He let his boss know that he was thinking about taking it, and his boss straight away matched the offer, and gave him a few extras (taking the work van home + fuel card).

Having said that, they were desperate to hang onto a fully qualified sparky because it's hard to get decent ones down here.

If you are doing something where they could replace you pretty easily, it might not work so well :spoton:

Lying will eat away at you, find a way of that is based on truth and and go get that new job. Give a reasonable amount of notice to old boss and keep your consience clean mate. Integrity and honesty are getting rarer and rarer, dont let your morals slip if you can help it.
