Ive been approached by a company, they want me to start working for them, problem is, the "second" interview is being held interstate, approx 2.5hrs drive away, so ill need some time off to attend.Ive already had the first interview, I told my current employer I had a "dr's appointment" so I could get the time off, the first interview was here in the A.C.T, so now what do I do? I will need probably 2 hrs off at the end of the day ie finish at 3pm, to drive down to the gong to attend the interview at 5:30pm. My current supervisor is aware that I am looking elsewhere, he knows that there is no future where I am at the moment, but my supervisor is off on annual leave, so I would have to ask my big boss, and he is not the most approachable bloke........So what do I do? 'Fess up and tell him that someone else has approached me and I need to attend a interview, or throw another sickie? Im not a fan of lying, but I dont want to do the wrong thing by my current employer, as I dont like burning bridges???

This doctor is a specialist (hence the travel time) and that was the only time you could get. Then, to spice things up a bit, if they ask what's wrong, just say 'it's very personal' and they'll forever fear it and never ask you again. They can't refuse to let you go

Can't you just say you need to take a "personal" day? I know up here they are pretty reasonable when you need to take a day off, as long as you use one of your annual leave days. By working weekends we accrue A.L. days fairly quickly though
