I only have one key for it. Ive heard that to program another one I need two so how can it be done with only the one?How much $$$ am I looking at? Lifetime Members 10,282 Member For: 21y 9m 26d Gender: Male Location: Victoria Posted 27/08/08 11:57 PM Share Posted 27/08/08 11:57 PM You can get the key cut with only one.They scan the original key to get the 'cutting code' off it.The machine then cuts your new key to the same 'cutting code'.It's not like a house key where they trace the pattern of the old key to cut the new one.Putting the cars immobiliser/security code on the key is a completely separate task.The book says you need both keys to do it. But...There's a trick that a friend of mine does at the dealership he works at all the time which involves wrapping the key in al-foil to shield it from the code being overwritten.I'm not 100% sure of the exact procedure.As Pat said, a dealer can code the keys for you.
