Anybody know how much it would cost me to get another key cut and programmed for the BA? I only have one key for it.

Ive heard that to program another one I need two so how can it be done with only the one?

How much $$$ am I looking at?

If you only have one key a Ford service dept can still code it for you, but its not a simple job like you can do at home, I believe they have to reset the immobiliser, and program the keys you have to that

You can get the key cut with only one.

They scan the original key to get the 'cutting code' off it.

The machine then cuts your new key to the same 'cutting code'.

It's not like a house key where they trace the pattern of the old key to cut the new one.

Putting the cars immobiliser/security code on the key is a completely separate task.

The book says you need both keys to do it. But...

There's a trick that a friend of mine does at the dealership he works at all the time which involves wrapping the key in al-foil to shield it from the code being overwritten.

I'm not 100% sure of the exact procedure.

As Pat said, a dealer can code the keys for you.

I have been told that these guys can copy BA keys. Mister MINIT | Shoe Repairs, Key Cutting, Engraving & Watch Repairs

Over here in WA when I called them I was told about $90 to supply, cut and code a key. I have not got around to getting mine done but will try when I am close to one of their stores.

Their website had a lot more info last time I checked :turboboink:

Did the same for mine, only had 1 key with it.

What I did was, bought a blank key off ford for $106, got it cut at the key cutters ford send there keys too ($30) and took it to my ford dealer who coded it for me for $40.

So all up cost me around $170, where as I was quoted over $200 by ford in the first place for them to do it all..
