Hey all,

{You may have seen a thread about a car I was considering buying, but unfortunately that didn't work out...(For lots of reasons...)}

I've been looking around and The only T's, that are BF onwards and with the 6 spd gb in the price I'm looking for, are chasers.

I've seen one for $22 with 60xxxkm, BF II spd, NCW, apparently as new.

Or its between $27 and $30K for a private T with about 40,000Kms...I don't want a 4 spd or a manual.

Some people say stay as far away as you can, while others say it doesn't matter.

Going to do a little work on it, and it's still got NCW...Or Would it be better to go the private car - bite the bullet and pay a little more?

I'm on the verge of not being bothered with it and staying with my 1993 1.5 Hyundai

What are your thoughts? Any ideas/opinions/anyone have one?

Thanks everyone,

Dan

I watch the auctions regularly and they do go much cheaper than a private sale that's for sure, it really depends who is bidding on the day, also ford wreckers and car dealers are often your biggest opposition as they know what they can make back off a good car.

My advice is go onto the pickles auction website and sign up, get your account activated and watch online for a few weeks to get a feel for how it all works as it is quite daunting at first and they move very fast, you scratch your ass and they have moved along 3 cars lol.

Mate it depends on where you are gonna buy one from. If you can test drive take it for a run and see what you think. If it drives good and your happy then buy it. Have a good look under the car as well for any sort of damage

There are some good chasers out there. I know of one that is the supervisors car that gets driven to the RBT location and then returned back to base.

watch the pickles auctions..

last week I saw an 06 blue bf 6sp auto with premium sound and 80,000k for 21,900 and it didn't sell and went to auction. So I assume you could of got it cheaper than that.

My friend has an ex-coper and it is in very good nick. He paid 20k for it and seems like a good buy. The dash is in pretty good condition and where the carpet has been cut has been covered with new patches of carpet.

I am looking for a bf at the moment through auctions and just waiting to find a good one.

Unless I can get a BA with a heap of features for a ridiculous price.

I will be trading my 06 BF cop car very soon. I would describe it as immaculate.

Since these pics were taken it has done less than 700klms

PM me if you are interested...you can buy as a stocker or I can install whatever mods you want.

Thanks PW, pmed!

Jet, are those auctions in Perth? Everything seems to be more expensive over here...

Cheers,

Dan

yer, you will find them everywhere.

Last week there was a black bf xr6 turbo in perth on the fowles auction.. no idea what it went for though.....sorry!!

keep your eyes on the pickles and fowles site...

if you hold off long enough you will surely find a good one.

I have only been looking for 2 weeks and already found quite a few.

I am looking at buying in a month or whenever a real good one comes up. :)

This one:

looks like a great example. I would be interested to know how much it goes for.. maybe 23k

If your in the ACT this is definetly something you should be looking at if in the market for a T.

I bought an ex-chaser a few weeks ago - BF Auto with 45Ks. The suspension is a bit shaky (hopefully being fixed under warranty) and there's a few scrapes on the underbody but the engine and brakes are perfect. Inetrior is a bit naff but easily fixed.

I paid $17,400 for it - it might cost a grand or so to get to schmick condition but still heaps cheaper than private

When looking through the auctions, how do you know what a car ends up selling for?

Cheers for the info guys,

Dan
