hi, just wondering whether it would matter that I am not the original owner, cause when I bought my ute in shockwave second hand there was slight flaking, also do I need to do it within the apparent 5yr warranty time?

thanks

just had mine fixed after the driver side rear door was flaking off, no problem in getting it fixed and was told regradless of warranty or not it will be covered a it's a reported problem, if there is peeling on 4 or moe pannels its a complete re-spray of the car other wise just the problem area

nah I was the second owner of mine and it was no dramas, even better my mate has a BA wagon that is a work car (foxtel installer) with ladder racks & dings and looks like a piece of Sh*t. he is now getting a full respray and the car will look like brand new.

had mine back for a few weeks now and its awesome, have also managed not to mark it .. yet LOL happy with the service I got except they forgot to tink the new rear screen but its getting done next week.

Thanks to the OP SubJimbo for saving me a lot of money.

I stumbled across this forum by fluke and I am glad I did

I had no idea this was a common problem with Shockwave paint.

My paint started peeling off 2 panels of my 2005 BA about 2 months ago, and I was just about to go into my local crash repair and see what it would cost me to get this fixed when I found this forum.

Since then 5 panels now have paint peeling

I contacted my local ford dealer and they said to bring the car in and they would submit it to Ford.

Well there has been no problems at all the car is getting resprayed as I speak and Ford arranged for a hire car (a NEW G6).

So thanks to all the posters on this topic for saving me money and a big headache.

I will be letting anyone I know with a Shockwave paint job to keep a close eye on it

Thanks A LOT

Grunta

I had the same issue as you had, with my 2005 BA MK II XR6 sedan.

I took it back to where I bought the car and they stuck a piece of sticky tape on the bonnet and ripped up a massive strip of paint.

I was like : :fool:

Then they took my car for a week and it came back looking brand new ! :3gears:

Funnilly enough, they gave me a 2008 Expensive Daewoo Late model camira as the replacement car!!

Well I got my car back on Friday (only took 2 weeks) full respray back to bare metal and it looks brand new.

I was a little bit upset because I didn't have time to take the G6 for a good country run to see how it goes but at least I have my car back now :burnout:

Repair shop said they have another 7 shockwave cars lined up to do :omg:

Thanks Guys
