got a call from the Ford Body Works here yesterday arvo asking me if I can bring my car in today, when I questioned why the went on to tell me that they could do the respray commencing today (not in 4 months time as they told me originally) and should take about 4 weeks. They also had a XR6 out the front that had just been resprayed in shockwave and it looked sweet much better than the factory paint quality.

Also got the pleasant suprise when I was driven to hertz rentals and they handed me the keys to a FG XR6, now I know its not a typhoon but much better than a bloody corolla or something.

We are currently in the process of shockwave respray number 17 at work. In and out in 5 working days now. Last month we had 2 sedans, a ute a nd a wagon in at the same time. Gets a bit confusing when you have 4 blue bonnets sitting around, Hmmmmm, which one came off which car?

5 days , is that for a full bare metal respray?

Yes. When you do a few of them the process starts to streamline a bit. We usually go pretty hard on them, disassembly/glass out by lunch time, paint off by the end of the 1st day, 2nd day undercoat, 3rd day rub/paint, then assemble, glass back in, buff/detail and out the door looking better than new. We usually try to get them out the door as fast as possible because of the nature of the job you end up with parts and panels everywhere taking up floor space.

called in to check on the progress today, roof and door jams etc painted hanging panels in primer , looks good the color has so much more depth than before, the rest was getting painted this afternoon, talked to the painter & the manager and they said they will leave the car once painted till next week before touching it to let the paint set properly, will get a proper cut back, buff & polish, ... I'm stoked with the progress its gonna look so much beter than the factory paint which was a little light on, the painter that is doing it has a great reputation for high quality jobs

Usually takes around 4-5 weeks, that's how long it took to do mine.

If anybody is having a problem and ford reject the claim, I suggest you get out the pressure hose at your local carwash and watch the paint literally fall off the car!

Its usually if they have 3 seperate areas or more they will do the full respray

Thanks

James
