I wanna have around 300 rwkw, and have 5g to spend.. whats involved? I was thinking., exaughst, flash tune, ffront mount intercooler,.. ahhh. pod filter,... umm. then when I get a bit higher, doing the fuel pump, valve springs...

I get awsuome discount from work so cheap parts etc.

any help would be goood. cheers .

If all you want is 300rwkw on a budget I would do the following:

Valve springs (nizpro items $1000 approx)

Seimens deka injectors 60lb $550

Change the cat $700

Tune $500 ( I'm not biased but C and V do the best Tune in Syd)

See rapid systems for a bang for your buck intercooler kit and piping combo.

The above should see 300 to 350rwkw.

If you have an auto you will have to get it strengthened 2000 to 2500

or manual will need a clutch Mal Wood option 3 would do the job

Be careful with how much power you push if it is a T5 the tend to break above 300rwkw.

Hope this helps Cheers Alf.

These are the moods you should use and in there order. You can use less or lower quality parts but it makes your ba motor work harder and a lot more stress on it e.g sh*tty intercooler, punching out the cat.

1 flash tuner $500

2 cat/exhaust $500

3 valve springs $750

4 fuel pump $150

at this point you still dont need a tune, the exhaust will flow better but the intercooler pipework will restrict the motor's flow.

5 intercooler kit/pipework $1200

6 injectors $300

7 custom tune a must $500-$1000

this will easely put you in the 300rwkw club. If you want to go above this you will need to look at a full exhaust set up 4"dump, cat and free flowing system.

I dont know why people still say strengthening 4 speed auto's a necessity at around 300 rwkw.

There are no magic parts to make these bullit proof., if you want to piss away 2.5 - 3 grand...go right ahead. (most people that spent this have still had failures).

there isnt really anything that can be done, most of the "strengthening" is done via the custom edit, adjustments to shift speeds, clamping forces and fluid pressures.

Serrated C1 clutchpack plates, new high energy band, and cryo treated planetary gears (with maybee a tweak to the s5 solenoid) is all that really needs to be done.

Even Nizpro just rebuild to factory spec, just paying particular attention to tolerances.

Just budget for an annual freshen up (maybee new band and fluid change).

above 350rwkw is really pushing it on these boxes, but the biggest killer of boxes is high torque and high grip.

I never said that the auto would be bullit proof. I know alot of people who have blown autos at that power level. If you can make it stronger wouldn't it be better as a safe guard measure? I suppose at the end of the day it comes down to how he will drive it.

Andy there is a couple of tuners in SA that will do great work without ripping you,the prices they charge are around 4-500 for a custom tune 750 supply and fit valve springs 450 supply and fit injectors and either a hi flow cat or gut yours so 0-400 and all you will need is a capa box 550ish and a cooler anywhere from 300-1150 and afuel pump for safety and 300-320rwkw is very acheivable.pm me if you want there details (I have no interests in any of these companies just know a lot of happy customers) so at worst it will set you back around 3g

Andy

I just made 304.4kw on 12psi using BA mk1 2003 with:

Rapid systems high flow v3.5 kit (4in intake 3in cooler and pipes, hot & cold side, batt relocate) (2000)

STOCK injectors and pump

3.5" metal cat and exhaust (1200)

CI twin plate clutch for the T5 manual (700 mates rates)

NIZPRO valve springs (245 + 550 install)

Custom tune at CV performance (600)

So for a little over your 5k budget I did it easily, but you can not go so over engineered witht the parts like I did, ie smaller exhaust off the shelf, smaller piping and intake etc

Should be do able especially as you get trade discount on parts etc...
