IMHO, in addition to beefing up your T's alarm system, you should get it sprayed with SmartDot. This makes it extremely difficult for the pro's to cleanly "chop" your car up and also makes it easier for the authorities to trace stolen vehicles when they are seized.

Might not make a difference at the time it gets stolen, but it does give the chop shops a headache when they get 'em.

Agree with the 'Lord' here sounds like the politically correct thing to do.......(smart dot that is....), personally.... shooting the M.Fckers is too good :angry:

Legalise drugs......please! (at least it will keep these low lifes away from our cars!!!) they'll be too wrapped up in their own little world to worry us in ours!! :D

Well if I had my way, I'd install an automated defense grid around the car! That way, any *beep* who tries steal my baby would get a very nasty surprise...

I once saw a story on /. (www.slashdot.org) that showed some car defense systems in the US. Side mounted flamethrowers, trazer dischargers, etc. It'd be a good way to clean out the "human gene pool"....

It was always going to happen !!!!

Before I got my XR6T, I asked a lot of people at FORD and ones that used to work there. The word was that the Falcon Imobilser has been "cracked" and that it is the same as the AU's. And as the XR6T made the top ten list of cars to be pinched in NZ. I opted for a new imobilser with the existing one...and a good alarm. It cost me the best part of $1,100 NZ$, but the insurance company was very happy with it and gave me nice discount with the premium....

Ken, time for another plug for one of my Trackers - you'll be able to ask your baby exactly where she is, where's she's been, how fast she was/is going, and you can sleep easy mate!

Can even attach one to the missus for you LOL.

Oh yeah AND welcome Horse ... enjoy your stay.

I don't want to track the thing being driven away ... I want to stop it from being driven away!

Seriously, what info can you give me on your tracker? Specs, fitting req's, price, etc., would be welcome. :censored:

This has really got my thinking seriously about a car alarm. I've got the factory immobiliser but it seems like it's still not safe enough. I'm kinda interested in what Karl was saying...the COBRA alarm with shock and microwave detection...but how much would that cost on average? So does that mean the alarm goes off when some idiot in the carpark revvs his engine really hard beside your car?

My beastie will have this setup, 700 including fitting. The microwave sensor was the most expensive part at about 230.

Apparently the ford remotes wont work with this one, but you get 2 sets supplied with the kit anyway.

All up though only 100 dollars dearer than the ford factory alarm.
