I caught Power Ford taking my modified TX3 turbo for a thrash a few years ago when it went in for warranty work. They clocked up over 60ks and used nearly half a tank of fuel.

Initially they denied it, but when I explained I worked in the area and saw them, they admitted to driving it hard, but (this is the killer) they said, "So what!"

A few years later I was talking to a former mechanic from there who remembered my car, and said a few guys had a turn at going for a thrash, and they often did it with cars.

My old car rover turbo got taken for a thrash

My mate heard it dose'n up and down one of the busy roads in Auckland and he texted me saying if I knew if my car had been stolen cause he just saw it.

I said it was going for a service, lucky it was getting sold so I didnt really care at the time!

Still, they should show a bit more respect for other peoples property. FFS

Only a close mate does servicing on my cars and I encourage him to give it a good thrash after a service! I figure if that's how I drive it, he might notice any problems that it has during those periods. Of course he doesnt lay strip's everywhere or launch it so I dont see a problem.

He's owned and modified some fast cars (11 and 12 sec cars) and knows how to steer. He also understands the time and place thing. Although I know he will never damage my car, if something were to happen he'd have it sorted straight away!

More importantly, he's only done the lunch run once in my car but when I picked it up, he'd bought me a packet of chips and their was a coke waiting for me in the fridge. I thought that was a thoughtful touch.

a hoon aprentice in a performance workshop here in brisbane wrote off a vk that was in for its final tune before powercruise 3 weeks out. he pulled out of a corner, stood on it and lifted the front, straight across the road and into on coming traffic.. the workshop repayed the owner with a 10 sec twin turbo 304 VP. not bad at all.

one of my best mates works for the local ford dealership where I get the basics done & goes for a ride when they take it for a test run just to make sure nothing happens. once I started modding the car & I took it in there for a service I specified that only the boss could drive & it & that's it otherwise my steelcap would end up in a very precarious place. at the same place only a few years ago one of my mates took his T there for some warranty work & one of the real di*khead app there who had no license at the time took it for a spin & put it in a gully & sprayed grass I every bit & piece of the car & bent a brand new full s/s exhaust. denies it to this day.

on the other hand when it goes to my tuner for work I give them a full tank of fuel & tell them to abuse it as much as they need, the difference is they drive these cars all day everyday & can handle themselves. ive even been in the car when the boss took it for a spin to test the new tune before I went down the strip with tyres alight for most of the run. old sprint car & circuit racer. love the small town nobody geets away with anything!!!

A mate of mine is driving up the main road testing a customer's "then new" Fairmont Ghia...... :cleanhouse: .

Two cars in front of him is an old guy driving a station wagon with a 2400X1200 sheet of compressed chipboard secured on his roofracks by a pair of occy straps.....get the picture...

As you can imagine...the wind gets under the sheet.....it launches into the air...my mate sees it take off and there is absolutely nothing he can do......the two cars in front go underneath it while its in the air...but my freind is a sitting duck......

The sheet hits the front of the bonnet then cartwheels over the car....a corner smashes through the screen before coming down on the turret as well..... :nono:.....he was so lucky he didnt get hurt.

Now theres about 10 grands worth of damage on this car, the guy in the wagon is long gone and even though others stopped in amazement at what they had just seen....noone got the number of the wagon...go figure

That took some explaining I can tell you..... :Sug1:

Fark :spoton:

I always have that fear when I see people carrying sheet iron around...in fact I think someone here cleaned up a piece a while back.

don't you mean someone got cleaned up by a piece?

I don't think that would make for a very pretty sight if the angles got ugly
