These topics tend go on forever. A bit like the random breath test topic that's going at the moment as well. I wont bother writing about all the myths and old wives tales that suround such topics but I will PM you with my 2cents.

talk to your solicitor mate. I got booked doing 104km/h in a 60 zone, $700 dollar fine 8 points and 3 month license suspension. did the same thing paid the fine got the letter in the mail. took the letter to the courts filled out a form to say that I was fighting the sentence, not the charge, took that to queensland transport and they suspended my license suspension (which means u can drive till your hearing). Went to court had 2 stat decks saying I need my license for work and had the suspension withdrawn.

good luck with it mate

Its all good and well to say what happens in one state but that doesnt mean its the same in the rest. Each State deals with these matters in different ways and some of those ways are contrastingly different.

The speed limit is for an "area" not a magical line drawn on the road. The police generally give you 100m before a change of speed and 200m past the sign to get to the speed limit. If you were well past the sign and not slowing down, then it is bad luck.

It is good to see you have made plans to get around the loss of license, but next time take it to court or know what the results will be if you pay the fine.

Its good to see you've seen the good side to this story, and are going to spend a bit more time with the missus and finish off the house, great stuff.

If your car is stock and you drive for work during the day then just drive, keep you license on you in case of RBT's.

Its 3 months...how many times have you been pulled over in a stock car while doing nothing wrong for a random license check.

maybe so, BUT if he does that and gets pulled over then that 3 month ban goes to 12months or more.

A bloke at my wifes work lost his licence for 6 months for speeding and other stuff. He continued to drive and got done for un-licenced TWICE (dumb mongrel). His suspension went from 6 months to 5 years.

Would you believe he got caught AGAIN reversing a truck out of the work premises to let another truck out, they doubled his suspension. He now has about 8 1/2 years left.

So, my advice, fight it if you want but you seem to have plans anway and a little unfazed by it all, Don't drive, and see you on the road in 3 months.
