Hi Guys,

This is my first post in the forums. I am looking to buy an AU XR6 and doing the BA XR6 T engine swap. Has anyone done it ( I did search for about an hour on here and couldnt find anything), I am only looking to swap the engine not trans etc. However my question is, as far as the electrical and ECU side of things, can you use the AU loom and ECU (obviously with a flash) or do you have to swap ECU's and Looms.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Jaze

Gday mate and welcome!

I cant speak about the mechanical side, the loom I will be very different to your AU engine, for example you have boost sensors dual variable cams and individual coil packs just to name a few. and the ecu will be different as well with out a doubt. I could be wrong so feel free to correct me

You are better off buying a engine complete with the harness and ecu, its easier and you won't be giving yourself a big headache.

Cheers

Make some measurments first mate, the bonnet may not clear the motor... dont know about AU's, but BA motor into EF needs a hole in the bonnet ;)

Thanks mate, I will look into it. Theres turbo kits for AU's for about 3k starting price, I might look a bit more into that maybe??

It will be cool if you can do it. You might wanna keep the turbo gear box as it should be stronger than an AU one

no need for a flash tuner as you wont be able to yse the ba computer as it requires the bcm to allow it to work. You will have to use an autronics or other after market computer to run it and the boost control. You can just buy a ba and fit the motor for the same sort of cost.
