Hey John,

That phoon of yours looks pretty mean, but $37 is waaaay out of my league right now. Plus I'm after an auto...

Thanks though, all the best with the sale,

Dan

Hey all,

As every week, I've seen a T (Shock horror...)

Just had a few questions about it. It's a 2004 BA I 4 Speed auto with 49,000KM's on the clock.

Has S/S Exhaust

SS Cold Air Intake

Boost and Oil gauges

Tinting

Sounds system with subs, splits and amp

Blue Headlights - Boo-yah!

New 17" tyres

Just been serviced and FSH

Running a 12PSI tune producing 340fwkw - About 270 at the rears I'd think? Includes flash tuner

Apparently garaged and used only 98 due to tune...

No exterior mods, no options

I have a couple of questions about it.

He's asking $21 and I think this is a good deal. Can't stretch the budet atm due to certain constraints...

1) At 270rwkw, will the valve springs start crapping out?

2) Will I have gearbox issues?

3) Apparently the tuning was done by APC - Are they reliable or should I take it to XFT to check the tune?

4) I've seen a Monza for sale - Would this be worth it with this set-up?

Thanks guys, I'm looking at it on Saturday.

Cheers everyone,

Dan

1)YES but depends if you are planing on more power

2)Probably in the future but that is low kays if you are going over 270 then eventually it will go

3) from what I understand they know their sh*t but 270 rwkw sounds almost generic tune ish if you are planing on mods you are gonna need a retune anyway if you are worried take it for a AFR run on a dyno should be quite cheap

4)if that is my Monza then buy buy buy but :spoton: yes is a good idea

sounds like a good deal but also maxing out everything so for more you will need pump and injetors and also valve springs I could be wrong but more informed peeps will correct me im sure

I know it's your Monza bluu...:spoton:

As you said, you are biased towards you're own sale... :stupid:

I guess I was just asking if that would be an improvement if I left it the way it is now...

If I left it, would the springs go? And the gearbox?

cheers,

Dan

1. your about at your peak with the valve springs, mate got his car tuned to 272rwkw so he didnt have to buy new springs.

2. only time will tell and depnds how hard u drive it, but much more power and it will start to go.

3.270, dont sound generic due to the amount of the mods u have. id bet its custom.. if your unsure then take it to xft.

4. if u plan to get around 300-340 rwkw eventually then go for it.. but I think your gonna need to get it tuned again when u get the cooler so that refers bak to Q. 3. but saying that theres other things id b spening money on first b4 the cooler. I.e. v/springs, strengthen gear box, high flow cat b4 your cooler wud b a problem to your performance..

270 would be your limit for stock cooler and you didn't mention injectors they would be peaking at 270, my springs are holding 308 but they desperatly need doing

the monza will support 300 but not consistantly

Springs are a bit of a unknown with BA,s.Some crap out early and some dont.Mine lasted about 1 year at 300rwkw untill it started losing mid to top end surge that it used to have.It then started breaking down some times at WOT.Changed them and it reved some much cleaner and more top end power.

Auto,s are a bit of a worry in the BA.Mine lasted 1 1/2 years at 280rwkw with no real issues. After that is was a little sloshy in the 1st to 2nd shift.I then got it rebuilt and had no issues again.

Just remeber that you play, you pay with these early BA,s.

I ran I monza cooler in mine and it was fine with the 310rwkw that it made.Anymore power and I change that and other things aswell..

Hope that helps alittle.

Darren
