*urgent* Good Price For A T?

Hey guys,

I've seen a T with 200,00Km's on it.

Just wondering, what would something like this drive like? I guess the turbo would be shot to peices?

How much would it cost, (and what would I need to do) to get a car like this back to it's former glory?

(It's a BA btw and unsure of price atm)

I'm assuming;

New turbo

Full/Major Service

Maybe an engine rebuild?

I'm hoping I can get it pretty cheap, so I can do a decent rebuild. (If that's what I'd require.)

Anything else you guys can think of? Should I steer clear?

honestly mate, I reckon it would depend how well its been taken care of. Could be ok. And just think, if its so cheap you are budgeting for a rebuild already, you might as well chuck in some decent internals and you will end up with a monster. And In that case who cares how many ks its done when its running 10s.

Is it roadworthy? remember the bushes, trans, and everthing else has done 200 as well... Price I would expect $11-12k

You'd be up for shocks too I would imagine. The turbo could be ok, if its done that many kays you would think they were highway kilometers, so the turbo could've had an easy life.

I'd put around $5000 aside for any maintenance that needs to be done - including gearbox, suspension, bushes etc etc

its funny how people assume that just because a car has got 200ks on it its pretty well stuffed. I was into Liberty RS's and B4's before my T and I can tell you alot of people had well over 300k's-350ks on their RS's still running the same turbo/engine and gearbox. Most even had uped the boost on their cars and was still holding strong. Not bad for a car built from 1990

Now this may not obviously directly translate to a Falcon, but dont go replacing a turbo just because its done 200k'.

In saying that I wouldnt go for a car with that many k's unless it has the service history included

Ask the guy if he knows about the turbo oil filter screen on the feed line & if he says no, the turbo will be going very shortly if it hasn't already been replaced!

The best thing you can do is test drive it & have it checked over by RAC or similar. If all checks out & you can get it at a decent enough price then go for it

Just remember that resale will also be a killer in a few years when it hits 250k...

basically with the money you may end up spending on it you could have bought a low klm car, but if you want to upgrade most parts and make it a go fast machine then it is a good cheap starting point and in the end you will have a new engine etc instead of one with 100k on it

Ben: The cop car I looked at got sold. The dealer misunderstood when I said, me and the mrs will think about it. (I'd signed up for it and ecerything.)

I'll definitely go and have a look and a drive and see how it goes.

Saying that you'd think about it isn't really a concrete answer so if a buyer came through ready to take it, he'd be silly not to sell.

How did you sign up? Was there a contract involved??
