Was talking to my local dealer today about differentiating themselves from other dealers by offering unique services, want an audio upgrade? done. need a blow off valve? done..

What services / features would you think would be beneficial to you the consumer as a value added service by the dealership.

We all know a dealer should have the common sense of being honest, and having the correct knowledge of the product they sell, but what about additional value added services such as what I mentioned.

do some of the little things better.

Ie if you bought the car in for some warranty work it would be good if the ford tech came back to you and said " Mate we've fixed the problem and whilst testing the car I heard a noise and I (the ford tech) wasnt happy with it so I fixed it for you"

If your car went in for a service it would be good to find some ford merchandise in the car once its finished

I reckon audio upgrades would be a good one. Also cosmetic changes like custom interiors (plastic areas re trimmed in leather/leatherette for eg). Would like to see some better stripe options, the ones going across top of cars like the current Cobra are too thin. Something thicker with matching pinstripes would be nice. Painted would be nicer too. Modded front/rear bars with vents, shaker for bonnet. :-) All those sorts of things. Suspension packages would be good too.

I think alot of performance mods would be too much of a can of worms for any dealer. With just about any worth while mechanical mod needing a tune, what dealer is going to invest in the expertise required? Also things like BOVs are essentially illegal if set to atmosphere. If a dealer sells a new/used car with added mods, then it should be both roadworthy and meet required ADRs.

But it would be nice if a dealer provided top notch after market tuning and customisation services, backed by the manufacturer in every way. Then it may become true that nobody knows your Ford like they do. Rather than a single dealer provding these services, how about a franchise arrangement organised by say a new arm under the Ford Racing banner, where dealers can opt in or out. Buy your new T with Ford Racing performance mods and enhancements. Upgrade your existing car when you want. That would be great! Sure, right now you can go to any aftermarket tuner and achieve great results, but for the uninitiated, it's a bit daunting, who do you trust?

if you buy a brand new car can you order it with different wheels?

e.g say you buy an FG XR6T but you want the F6 wheels on it instead, can dealerships arrange that or can you just buy it the way it is
