Oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue. I got my Craig Lowndes ute in the first part of last year. First thing I noticed was how much the hard lid over hangs, and the gap between it and the rear window. Any who looking more into it once I got the car, it was also leaning more on the left side, and the right was all tight. First service at BrynByrt ford Mt Gravatt (Brisbane) I mentioned it to them. Came back to pick it up to find it much the same, they told me they've adjusted as much as they can and to fords specifications and it all measures up. Basically I wasn't happy.

Took it to Metro Ford for my next service, have a friend there. Apparently they had 6 mechanics looking at it all scratching there get going WTF???

So they took heaps of photo's and told me they have to get into contact with ford about it, looks like you need a new complete tray + lid, I'm like are you serious?!?!

Anyway. Long story short, they had my car for just under 3 weeks.....trying to source that big metal strut brace which is all they needed to fix. Got one sent up from Melbourne, which ended being the same crappy small black one. Finally sourced one from there own workshop..... and all fixed. Picked the car up on Friday, to find they scratched the cover, and guard, which they acknowledged so they gonna fix it.....another loan car for god knows how long.

I'm happy they fixed it, but boy am I pissed, I was still paying the damn thing off while I was driving a xt falcon, least it had the zf box......then 3 weeks later, comes back scratched. Damn ford

that's my rant

Hi Guys - sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm having this exact same problem with the hardlid on my BF FPV... ford changed the gas strus because the original set were too weak and the lid kept falling down... now the hardlid is being twisted an distorted :(

I know what I need to fix it; one of these full-length top-rails for the front of the tub to support the hinges (mine has the short black one as others have posted). My question is, were can I get one from??? or are they really not available anymore? :(

That just totally pisses me off. After all the trouble I had and Ford saying they do not have any, you get one fitted.

Oh well congrats mate.

Which dealer did you go too? I might call them up and see if I can buy one.

Anyone got a part number for the large mounting bracket?

Today I bought a Ford bulge hard cover for my BF second hand and it needs mounting kit. It uses the pins for mounting.

Is there an aftermarket supplier who does a decent mounting kit that will suit?

Just an update on my hardlid issue...

My Ford dealer has located a replacement heavy-duty full length s/steel wrap-around hinge and its being installed this Monday.

It didnt take them long to get it in either.

A very big thankyou to a couple of fellow member here who helped me out with pics and info, while I sorted the issue out with my Dealer.

I'll be holding my breath on Monday while its being fitted. hopefully all goes well and no scratches.

Hi mate - the part number I got quoted was FOBAFCP28548A. I believe this is the right part, although I havent actually seen it yet. Its not cheap either mind you. I asked spare parts about buying one and its over $1000 through Ford. Fortunately, I had my warranty claim approved and Ford have been great in helping out thus far.
