Waranty Issues

Hi Guys,

My XR6T BA Mk I (04 model) has run out of warranty (by about a year) it has only done 45,000 and I just took it in for its service. I'd recently noticed a few things that didn't quite feel right and mentioned it to them when I took it in. I got there in the afternoon to pick it up, and get a bit of a shock when they tell me that it's got a cracked head gasket, and needs a diff hat reseal, serp belt, idler pulley, and crank shaft seal due to leakage of various fluids. This left me feeling a bit miffed to say the least, as it's always been regularly serviced, by the people we bought it from (new I might add, and official ford dealer, servicer etc), and now one year out of warranty and all of this happens at once :*( The people where we get it serviced suggested calling Ford CRC to see if they may be able to do something. I did this, and they were very helpful and will get back to me by Friday. But if this comes to nothing then I'm up for a few grand to get all of these issues sorted. Has anyone else had any thing like this happen?

Cheers,

Tim.

I wonder how much of that stuff was evident or noticeable at the last few services under warranty adn they just prolonged the fix until it was out of warranty !!!!

45K kms is still pretty new !!

What possible motive would the dealer have for doing this. If it's warranty than Ford picks up the bill. Out of warranty, maybe the owner gets it done at his local garage. Not excusing the dealer for not picking it up earlier (if it was there), but to suggest they purposely waited is a long bow to draw me thinks..

The dealer gets paid a lot less for warranty work, they would prefer that the hoist were full of cars being serviced as there is more money in that.

As for ford the less warranty claims the less it eats into the bottom line, so I would bet Ford has said to the dealers only fix what you have too, ignore the rest.

I believe that alot of us are starting to realise how true this has become. The mighty dollar and bottom lines are all they care about anymore. I think the original poster will be left high and dry and the 'out of warrnty' issue will be the key excuse.

I was recently advised by Ford of 'good will' work where Ford service will do things out of warranty for loyal customers that have regulalry serviced there cars with Ford. Lets wait and see and hope this pans out in his favour.

Who's holding there breath?

Youve either got warranty or you dont and by the sounds of it your well out so in my opinion I dont like your chances of getting it fixed

His items should not be failing this early in the life of the car. And my old Astra computer died out of warranty and it was replaced under warranty as long as I foot the labor cost. that's a fair and honest result that were not seeing from Ford, unless your sleeping with the dealership principle.

Hi, I got a call back from Ford CRC last Friday, they will be paying for 60% of the work on the head gasket and the diff hat reseal, I've still got to pay the remaining 40% on that, as well as the remaining work to be done, but still it's better than a kick in the teeth IMHO :) So I'm pretty happy all round, and glad that I've always had it serviced by Ford.
