but if lets say you are cornering in the wet and plant your foot so it kicks down a gear, well traction controll doesnt do the rear end any justice for the first second or so.

mate Im pretty sure any car would go sideways if you planted it in the wet while cornerning lol

OK, now as much as I would like to say that the new Utes are far far better handling, I simply cannot!

I just took a FG T ute 6spd Manual for a drive with the standard 17" wheels. To get a true idea of the vehicles grip I turned traction control OFF for the whole drive. Through a fairly open, off camber roundabout going straight through, in 2nd gear the rear just slid out quite easily. It was controllable, but for someone with little driving experience this could be very dangerous. I personaly think the utes need wider rubber on the back, possible 265 if not 275 should be standard on the turbos and 8's.

The front suspension is miles ahead of the old stuff, just like it is in the sedans, but this makes it quite easy to do a quick turn in jolt followed by a healthy serve from the right foot - dorifto city :w00t2:

Normally I would say this is :hohum: but to be honest for the majority of drivers it will be :yikes:

When is DSC getting put on utes? Due to your comments im going to have to wait till then I think, and get some fat rubber as the first upgrade, cause my girlfriend needs to be able to drive my t when I get it, and she isnt very skilled.

But on another note... sounds like fun :P

Onya Seena ^_^

Good to hear it's all situation normal then. With the extra power over the previous model in stock from I'm sure it will scare a few people. My BF ute (and the BA without traction control) has caught a few hero mates out that think they know all, even after warning them to take it easy. :nono:

DSC is on the utes from this month production onwards, so that will help with keeping the ute under control. Even though I have said it is dangerous when full power is in use, you don't have to drive like that all the time, if you girlfriend/wife/stupid mate is sensible there won't be any issues
