Hi Guys

First post here. Currently driving a BA MKII XR6T with 0 mods (me+mods=bad), and made the decision (what seems like ages ago!!!) to move on up to the new F6.

I'll cop a bit of grief for the next statement, but ahhhhh, what the hell!

I had originally preordered a new VW Passat R36, liking the Euro styling and interior quality. But something niggled away in the back of my mind, I new the F6 was on its way (this was around April 08) but I had placed my pre order, and had little choice left.

I was cruisiing past a Ford delaer around the start of July, who just happened to have the white demo F6 (fresh from testing at Winton) and I let the sales dude convince me to pop on down and take a look. After sitting (read: sitting - not EVEN test driving) in the vehicle, turning it over, having a good squizz at the exterior and noticing that Ford had FINALLY updated the dash, guages, entertainment and sat/nav I was left with a very hard decision. Do I stay with the Blue Blood in the veins, or move away like a RAT BASTARD to european-ness?!?!

Well, here I am today, with a cancelled R36 order and a little white piece of paper telling me that I will be the proud owner of a new F6-310 in the next couple of weeks. Wil look forward to cruising with you guys in the near future.

Geez that's a tough call. The Passat is a great car. Although it probably wouldn't have as much street cred as the F6 only because the F6 is better known car here in Aus.

Personally, I would have gone with the Passat, just to be a little different than everyone else... But you certainly haven't gone wrong with the F6310...

Can't wait to see the pics... I don't think I've seen any F6 in-the-flesh pics yet...

Don't be fooled into thinking the Passat would have been netter quality.

My old man got one last year and has had noting but problems with it. It's a nice car, but has had a couple of recalls, a constant thump in the back, the brakes a super grabby, it's broken down twice and the way the auto brake to stop roll back workes is about the dumbest thing we've seen. A few of the problems remain but VW Australia appear worse that Ford when it comes to fixing problems.

When he had a problem with the brake and the rattle, the dealer refused to fix it, and VW Australia said the car was normal and nothing needed fixing. A month later and there was a full recall for the brake problem. Earlier this year the car just stopped dead, had to be towed, only to have VW charge $780.00, blaming it on dirty fuel and saying the car needed new filters, a computer reflasn and injector clean. VW refused to provide a sample of the so called dirty fuel so it coulde be claimed against the pertrol station, instead they said that they don't do that, they say it's dirty fuel and that's that. The car came back still running like crap, and a few weeks later, another recall comes through for a computer issue with the car, funnily enough this issue was known to cause pretty much exactly what happened to the old man's car.

While a few niggles with any car can happen, it's the attitude of the manufacturer that makes the difference.

Colour is Silhouette...was there any other choice?

Went with all options except the premium brake package. Changed my mind three weeks ago, but the dealer said it was too late to add the premium brakes as the parts had already been ordered by FPV.

Oh well, just need to make sure I've got room to stop!
