Hi guys, only new here and I'm stuck in a bit of a dilemma.

I currently drive a BA Xr6 N/A manual (no lsd :pinch: ) and have been contemplating buying one of the new FG Xr6's. I can't really justify the change so I thought perhaps throwing some money at the old beast might be just as good. It currently has an S/S inductions cold air induction and Pacemaker extractors into a 2.5 inch stainless system. So what I need to know is:-

a) What other mods can I make, aside putting the supercharger on it for some more power?

b) Replacing the diff with an LSD unit? Xr6 turbo unit or aftermarket?

c) Supercharger kits? I've only seen the CAPA kits, any others out there worth looking at?

d) Will the T5 be able to handle the power output claimed by the intercooled capa kit? Clutch will be getting replaced with a stronger unit for sure.

e) What kind of driveability can I expect?

Any suggestions/tips would be most appreciated.

PS I also live in Nth Queensland so any of you northern lads know of any reputable workshops, let me know

Thanks

I bought an N/A xr6 brand new at a very good price, I done the research and homework into supercharging and found out that for bang for bucks and headache wise it was cheaper and easier to do a turbo conversion.. but I encourage you to do something different ...

raptor also make a very good kit.. good luck with it all :crybaby:

Tuned a car with a raptor the other day with good results.

I would have no hesitations using one.

I've been trying to find as much info about these supercharged BA's but I cannot find anything on Google, even youtube is devoid of anything regarding them. Seems not many walk this path. I'd really like to know how well they go, how they sound etc. I love the sound of the turbo car's I can only hope a supercharge can come close.

sticking a blower on a motor with a T5 = BANG!!!!!

I knew the T5 was weak, but I would've thought it would have an even easier time with a supercharger over a turbo, considering the power delivery is pretty much linear all the way to red line, not to mention less torque.

Heard nothing but good things from Raptor SC.

Their kit comes complete, ready to bolt up with flash box, etc. For bit over 5g I think. Few hundred extra gets you water injection with the kit.

If you are a member of Australian Ford Forums, drop 'badcooky' a PM. He's supercharged his ute with raptor kit and has nothing but good things to say about raptor.

g'day mate. I have been thinking over the same thing for the last couple of months. After a fair bit of research I finally decided that supercharging was not the way to go. On average by the time your driving around with the kit on and your happy with it you'll probably be out of pocket around $10,000 with the current prices of the S/C kits. I decided to do a N/A to Turbo conversion. At the moment a have a turbo, manifold, intercooler, injectors, fuel pump, crossover piping, airbox, oil + water lines, pretty much everything I need to do the conversion and I'm only out $2000. Now I could only find 2 people who have done this succesfully and have had good results (on the forums). I am going to go a step further and buying an aftermarket electronic boost controller and replacing the pistons and conrods for extra strength and my own piece of mind. As for the T5 gearbox, no way. It will not handle the extra power at all. I'm opting for a 6 speed manual conversion with a typhoon or aftermarket twin plate cluth and flywheel. The diff, will eventually be a turbo or xr8 diff. Once done and on the road I'm looking for around 300rwkw or more at around $6-7000. I found this was the much better option as that's pretty much a full car rebuild haha. Included in that price is a nizpro flash and custom tune which is the most important part of this project! Hope I helped you out!
