I know Kev has some parts to make these kits quieter. He is going to fit them up to my car to test them as I am close by for him but its my fault its been held up as my car is currently not driveable. So as soon as I pull my finger out I am sure your problems will be sorted. Sorry guys blame me not Kev.

I will have the parts in the next few days that can be retrofited to all current surge tanks.

These parts will quieten down the pump considerably.

most people who have had anything to do with the 044 pump know that under the drivers side seat is not the smartest place for street driven vehicle.

If you are going to have your say then I would appreciate some accuracy in your posts.

The pump is not under the seat..its approx. 300mm in front of the passengers feet.

Mic is obviously not married. first thing my wife said was what was that terrible noise. I am trying to get the maximum horsepower out of my car with the minimalist noise possible. I am even going to line my air box to quieten things down. A quiet car does not attract the wrong type of attention also (Police). Thanks Kev for helping us out. Love your products was so easy to fit.

One of the draw back with the 044 is noise when it gets hot, or is poorly mounted... not saying the mentioned set up is poorly made, there are just some key factors regarding 044 pumps and why they can be noisy.

The pump is cooled by fuel; fuel running through it, so the fuel supply going into the pump will have a great impact on the resulting noise. Consideration needs to used when deciding where one mounts their surge tank, a hot tank will contain hot fuel, a cool tank, located in a cooler enviroment wont heat up the fuel.

The other main factor for noise is isolation... the billet ring clamps that we all love to use is just not enough, I have found, that using it and a separate plate with 4 rubber isolators works very well in keeping the pump quiet... my guide is if my wife can't hear it, then it works ;)

The above statement is not aimed at any comercially available surgetank.

Cheers

They are ridiculous loud those pumps. I went to a funeral a few weeks back and there was a whole series of cars driving slowly. When we all parked, someone that was about 3 cars in front of me said what the F**k is that in your car buzzzzzzzzzzzzzz buzzzzzz buzzzz buzzz.

My car used to buzz on a cold startup in the middle of winter so I dont think that cold/hot fuel has anything to do with the noise.

My Mrs after that day would not get in that car again, too noisy for her. I had to sell it, no bull. Car is sold as she refused to use it or drive it. Car was mint condition, beautiful car and I had to sell it. Doesnt matter where that pump is mounted, people would hear it a block away and there is nowhere in that car you can hide from it. Im not doubting the effectiveness of the pump but the noise is almost untolerable.

It is very intrusive, not too bad for lovers of XR6T but anyone else, its way way way over the top.

Next XR (FG) no 044 is going on that.

You sold the car because your missus said the fuel pump was too noisy? You didnt thinkt o apply some lateral thinking and fix the problem(like hanra did?)
