PHANTOM that mesh on the housing is what I was talking about and it it there as a silenser. Apparently if you rip it of it becomes alot louder and will suck in more air. Give it a go. I am on mine when I recieved it. The supplier im getting it off told me they have put a few on BF xr8's and FG xr6t and with the mesh off it is notiosibly louder..

GIVE IT A GO.

let me no how you go mate

I don't think I'll be doing that as it's on the hot side of the engine bay.

It'll be defeating the whole purpose if it's removed as most of the induction air will come straight from behind the thermo fans which will be hot as buggery.

I'm just going to wait till I get it on the dyno and see what happens.

Will keep you posted.

Phantom,

I originally thought that but what do you think it is doing now? It is still sucking in the hot air from the thermo fans, just not as much of it. I know people who run pod filters that are open to the engine bay but also have a cold air intake to it and they have had no problems. Look 100% up to you and I respect youe desicion.

I honestly thought what you did but that vent there is still sucking in hot air..... with or without mesh on....

Phantom the other sugestion is either get a K and N panel filter or podfilter to put inside your airbox beforde going for the Dyno tune... My mate got just under 6rwkw with a K and N panel filter over the stock air filter on his BA and its makes a much bigger flutter noise than the stock filter di, once they uped the boost.

I reckon I'll be making a plastic panel out of something and removing the screen from the snorkel and just covering it with the new plastic panel.

Have all cold air from in front of the radiator instead of some from the engine bay.

I'll be fitting a K&N panel filter also, once they're available.
