As far as the washer bottle goes there would have to be more to it. Perhaps the driver of the car faied the attitude test and gave the officer a bit of a mouth full

I left the track pretty late and saw about 4 - 5 police cars marked and unmarked just outside the gates. They had what looked like a small sedan and a van pulled over.

If the guys leaving the track are continuing the racing on the street then the police have every reason to target the "actual" hoons.

Wicked Wednesdays provides a great avenue to allow us to have a play with our cars in a safe environment. It would be a pity if the local police spoil it if they are defecting cars as they leave the track.

My guess is that close to 100% of cars that race at the drags are not fully street legal. That is going to turn a lot of the hoons back onto the street !!

It has been brought to my attention that some competitors, and spectators, are being unfairly targeted by the Blacktown LAC after leaving the Wednesday night street meets at WSID.

As current secretary of the NSW ANDRA Divisional council I would like to get some feedback on this as we have always encouraged people to race at the strip, not on the streets and harassment like this would seem to be very counterproductive to getting racers to run their vehicles at the racetrack.

I intend taking this issue up at the Divisional council meeting next week and would appreciate any feedback prior so we can work towards a better deal for all concerned.

They have been doing that sort of thing for a while, last time I was there was the state of origin 2 or 3 night last year and the police decided to do a massive defect blitz before people leaving WSID got onto the highway. It wasnt a radar or RBT station they were pulling in anything around for defects. Luckily I heard about it and went home another way to avoid the whole thing. I haven't been back since because im still sorting out some engineering issues (I dont have an xr6t, im here researching for when I can upgrade) and I dont want to risk it.

I understand police are doing their jobs but I think its a cheap shot to target people safely leaving an off street drag meeting. It's almost a kick in the guts to people that go out of their way and cough up the cash to enjoy drag racing in a legal way. On that particular night im sure there'd be more danger from drink drivers having watched the footy compared to drivers leaving wsid.

not really a flaw, I completely acknowledge that and its why I was upfront about it. I'm not whining or declaring myself a victim in any way. My point was to illustrate that it isn't isolated to a recent incident and irrespective of the individual cars participating as a whole the targeting of people trying to use a legal avenue to have some fun drag racing is pretty poor form and sends the wrong message to the people they want to take it to the track.

And trust me no-one wants my engineering issues to be sorted out more than I do. The car is safe though and its a minor technicality holding me up. It's easy to criticise but id imagine most owners here with a few mods would struggle to get through an emissions test. Or perhaps have brake, wheel or suspension mods that havent been engineered. I'm not here to get into all of that though.

I see your point, but there is a bit of irony in it. Unfortunately not everyone has the same level of pride in their vehicle as you obviously do and these are the ones that should be sent to the pits.

Unfortunately there's no varying levels of roadworthiness; it either is or it isn’t. Those that are safe but lacking the certificates to prove it sadly get ‘harassed’ as well.

Interesting subject,

I went out to Willowbank last night to give my Girlfriends stock GT-P a run with a mate in his girlfriends GT-P as a bit of a laugh (and not related to the subject the similarities between the two were amazing) Anyway I brought along a mate of mine from work for a look. I drove home (about an hour) and even though accelerating hard from slow points I would not have exceeded the speed limit by more than 10 kph at ANY point on my drive even throught the 40 k roadworks.

Any how I arrived at work this morning to my mate telling me how hyped he was about the night before and thrashing his Mazda Bravo all the way home and almost cleaning up a power pole.

I haven't often the police around Willowbank but expect them every time.

I guess sometimes certain groups feel they are being unfairly treated by the law but we are responsible for our own actions. If I decide to do donuts in the main street I need to be ready to pay for my actions.
