Interesting topic as said before.

I'm concerned at times thinking what would happen if I was pulled over for a defect check. I've read the NSW RTA Guidlines on Light Vehicle Modification and believe my mods fit in line with being able to say I'm 'Owner Certified'. But that's a bit of a furfy really as there are big unknowns in terms of meeting emmissions ADRs and my head is probably in the sand on that one.

Obvious things that stand out on my car include bigger intercooler, upgraded piping using factory locations. But sometimes I imagine if the police look inside and see all the shiny bits, blue silicon hoses and joiners, even my oil catch can that is properly plumbed (ie not venting to atmosphere), I suspect I may be in trouble. I guess that depends on the circumstances and individual police member doing the check, which would be a real shame. I would be quite happy to explain to a police person, all of my mods, their purpose and how I've researched their legality in conforming to ADRs. But I feel that some police are ill imformed and would simply think if it's not standard that's a defect. Any amount of explaining or discussion may be seen by them as senseless arguement. There is heaps of ADR info on the RTA website too, which covers things like crank case ventilation, exhaust modification, wheels and tyres, so really all sides should be informed in a perfect world.

Two areas where I think I would lose are, I have an adjustable BOV that has the potential to vent to atmosphere. Bascially this is set to full plumb back for street and full atmo for the track. Best of both worlds in my opinion. The other area is meeting exhaust emissions. Mine isn't loud by any means and is basically stock with same number of mufflers as original. Ford made a great flowing exhaust to begin with for my power level. But with a tune using bigger injecters, well that is untested for me. I wouldn't be mad at all if it failed an EPA test. Perhaps I would go back to my tuner and see if they can adjust so it would pass.

Anyway I've never been in a defect situation and may never be. My thoughts and concerns are pure speculation really. I just would hate to be singled out as a hoon or slapped with a few defects for the wrong reasons, simply because I enjoy car modification. Cheers.

I think the post was more to piont out that the cop's were sitting on the gates and getting people, not out on the open road targiting the overall public as they should be. If they moved there blitz down the road a few k's, they would not only have a chance at the people from the drags bu tall so those out there who dident go to the drags and break the law. It wouldent look like they were directaly targiting the drags, so it wouldent put people off from doing the right thing and attending meets as apposed to street racing. DRAGS + COPS OUT SIDE = WHY BOTHER....... STREET RACE+ MABY THE CHANCE OF A COP= FUN.... that's the way people will start to see it if the cops dont do the right thing/smart thing. But I guess they just aint that smart.

More than likely WSID paid for the police presence, and if they did that "user pays" means that the police must conduct there busines in and around the complex so they would have been doing what they are paid to do just like the coppers sitting at the football or cricket they are paid by the event organisers on a sought of contract basis although the govt. gets the lions share of the cash.

The track has been bad all year, and only gets prepped for a major meet.

The left timing board hadn't worked for months.

I doubt they'd pay for anything, and especially anything that deters people from showing up.
