This question is sort of related but. Ive got a BA N/A xr6 that has been converted to turbo im about to put a new t56 into it was also looking for some more power from the engine. Is the pistons and crank the only difference between my na block and xr6t block.

Just wanted to see if there is anything I can get replaced (eg rods, pistons crank) to bring me up to 300kw.

If you only want to go to 300 you should be able to do it on the stock internals

So if I replace my na pistons with aftermarket ones ill be fine.

So the rods and crank are the same units.

Im planning for 300kw but I may want to bring it over that at a later stage maybe 320-340kw. So I just wanted to make sure there wasnt anything else holding the motor back

the only differance is

1 the pistons

2 the exhaust valves

3 inlet hole in the sump for the oil return

4 upper intake plenum(no butterflys)

this is of cause excluding the obvious turbo parts.

The crank is the only thing that is that same. The XR6 TURBO motor uses different rods to the petrol I6 But the SAME rods and the LPG I6. This goes for the typhoon as well. The pistons in the turbo motor are different altogether. I'm not sure how they lower they're compressioin ratio, probable a mix between pistons and combustion chamber design. The other difference in the TURBO motors to the N/A Motors is the exhaust valves and the valve springs. I'm sure there is a few more though. I'm also doing the N/A to turbo conversion and I'm looking for a decent set of rods and pistons to put into my I6. I may go with the stock falcon LPG I6 rods as these will do the job but I may be in the quest for more power sooner than I think haha
