hey all!

as the topic sujests I need a job!!

im 22 yrs old and reciently finished my apprentaship in butchering. I had to give up my job butchering just after xmas due to the boss not giving me time off to sort out family issues. for the last few mths ive been helping my grandmother organise the sale of our property in south gipsland which has required all of my time, over the past mth ive been doing my hardest to try and get a new job....... and no 1 wants me :crybaby:

I live in the S.E suburbs of melb and am willing to travel (within reason), working as a butcher for 4 yrs and turned me into a hard worker, doing 70+ hours a week with only 1 hour break a day, so I dnt mind hard work!

but anyway........ I would love a reply to this...............cheers ppl

Hey mate, I don't have a job for ya but I had some job issues a few months back and the guys on here were extremely helpful, so I'm sure you will find something. Good luck with it.

I'd try and avoid anything to do with editing photo's if you can help it :spoton:

Cant offer chops but I can offer threads and ferrules....

We've been advertising for machine operators for about three months and cant fill positions.

Dayshift/Afternoonshift/Nightshift all available.

Footscray's probably a bit far out for you though.

1/ get your CV together, and pay a few bucks getting it professionally sorted if they can do a better job.

2/Submit your CV to any companies that you may be interested in working for ( 60% of positions are not advertised)

3/ Use Seek/Career one etc to generate leads. ie recruitment agencies leave numbers and have contacts , call them

4/Call potential employers as a follow up to point 2

5/ Ensure that you tailor your CV and covering letter to specifically meet the needs of any advertised position.

6/In the advent of getting a second interview be certain to contact your referees to ensure their story matches your reasons for YOU getting that particular position

7/ Use your network and keep your ear close to the ground regarding potential opportunities.Man the Phones

8/ You are responsible for your own marketing program.

9/Stay positive and create your own opportunities

10/Perseverance does pay ,and it is a full time job to get a full time job. ie you get out what you put in

On a more specific note a meat unit manager for WW or Coles is not a bad place to start. Make it to area manager and there's $ 100 k plus car plus bonuses, I know where my first call would be. At the end of the day go get it. They will not ring you unless you give them a reason.

Good luck :spoton:

Buf's Post +1

I got head-hunted for my last job, but all the previous ones have been a case of persistance...almost to the extent of annoying people

Also, what do you want to do?

These are two point are so true especially for small to medium business, I tend to have a job to fill but get caught up working for the business and keep putting off advertising and doing interviews.

Then when I finally advertise and have an in box full of resume's its almost pot luck to who gets an interview.

My best worker was a walk in with no industry knowledge, only some applied knowledge. He came in on a day when I was short staffed and under the pump to get some jobs done, I told him I have some work on the truck if he can start next day, he actually stayed that day and helped clean the factory.

2 years later he is my head tech.
