I've also heard that T and V8 cop cars are going to be a thing of the past, with the Govt opting to have noting larger than NA 6s dur to fuel costs and envirpnmental reasons. At least crooks won't have to try so hard to get away now.

I hope that's true... The police shouldnt be driving around in typhoons as they are now, that's where our tax dollar is going? Even a XR6T is overkill, give them a Falcon XT with sports suspension and that's it. I say the police shouldnt even get air cond.

I have seen a few ex chasers and I just think how in one year and 40,000km could you damage a car like that. Do they tear the seats when they are driving around? hey Tim do you mind just tearing the fabric on the back of my seat whilst I run in and grab this drug dealer?

There is a few dealers in sydney that sell only police cars, half of them they fit leather interior in it (and try and charge out for it). Imagine how bad the interior would have been to have to re-upholster the seats?

Not allowed Air COn, that's a bit silly...

Plus, if you were a pissed off crim thrown in the back of a car, would you not try and destroy something?

They can spend 12 hour shifts in a car on a hot day and they shouldnt be entitled to Air con. Does you statement also apply to those that work in the hottest parts of Australia. Your a dead set idiot!

Next you'll be saying they shouldnt get air bags.

Ban this idiot!

You know....Ive seen some stupid statements made on this forum at times, and the above is right up there.....

Sure we all bitch and grizzle when we get done for doing the wrong thing but can you imagine where we'd be without the Police Service......seriously Hulk....put your brain in gear before making idiotic posts like this....

I say let em' have air cond, and the tools (inc. the cars) they need to do the job.....and a pay rise as well......if only for the crap jobs and the dropkicks they have to deal with on a daily basis.

Wait till the next time someone does the wrong thing by you and you need their help.....

Get a grip man.... :crybaby:

Well said. The car is where many of them spend a lot of time, why shouldn't they have a few luxuries? Next he'll be saying is no one should have air conditioned offices, make everyone work in a bare warehouse with desks and phones only! And, in the end the cost to the tax payer is comparitavly small because the cars are bought tax free, very cheap, then sold off for reasonable money (condition factored in) with tax on top.

The reasons the seats tear is usually because the cops have to wear big bulky utility belts with cuffs and guns etc, it doesn't take long for that stuff to tear the seat fabric up.

Are you guys serious? A little lighthearted humour.. As if I would think that they shouldnt have air cond. Do FGs or VE's even come without air cond? I dont think so. I cant beleive that is what you focus your reply on.

The point im trying to make is a Typhoon is a bit overkill for cop use..

Why is it overkill?

It's an attention grabber for them, gets them noticed, is an icebreaker in many situations with certain members of the public and it's also intimidating. All factors wich help reduce crime through subliminal, pacive means. Plus, as I said earlier, the Police buy em cheap (especially the Phoons where it's as much an advert for Ford as it is the Police). On the Phoons, they may even make a profit when they resell them.

Leather seats, sun roof, 6 stack CD player are luxuries, air con a basic comfort.
