Hey all,

On my seemingly everlasting quest for a new car, I've seen a V8 2004 BA II XLS Ute.

I only want to spend about 15K and all I can see is a BA XR8 that I may be able to get for about that and this ute. I don't want another 6, unless its a turbo. (Seen a chaser for $22 but that's a little too much atm...) Unless someone is selling one....?

The ute looks like an ugly XT styled ute. My question is, if I get a BA/BF Front bar and a new set of XR Headlights, will it be a straight swap, or will I have to modifiy things?

A new front bar, headlights, rims and an XR8 Bonnet will make it look nice I think. I believe it would be the same as swapping out the bumper and headlights from an XT.

Thanks everyone.

Cool,

Thanks Tab :) Lik I said, I don't want a NA 6 again, and if I can't get a T then it will have to be something with more power than the NA 6.

I'd pick a T over an XR8 anyday, but the 7 K difference is just too much...

Cheers,

Dan

One of the guys I work with has installed a XR6 front on his XT ute.

He then found the bar doesn't come with the XR6 lights which are bigger.

Of course doesnt come with fog lighs.

Doesnt come with the wiring loom for the fog lights, or the switch for the dash, something to do with XT utes having a heavy duty loom.

So it can be done, and his car does look better for it, but hate to say its still a XT at trade in time.

Mate, Save up and wait for the right car.

All you are doing is making the same mistakes, that you will regret later on.

An XR8 IS NOT A TURBO. We are seeing BF ex Chasers over East for $18k. In the current climate, the market will come down to you.

Hey guys,

I'm itching for a T right now...But I just can't seem to justify the price difference...There's a lot I've taken into consideration...

2006 T BF 61xxx KM Ex-chaser $21,980

2003 BA XR8 80xxx Private ~$16,000

XT 5.4 BA II XLS 90xxx ~$16,000

$22 as opposed to $16...

XR8 has leather, prem sound, 18" rims, reversing sensors etc, nice colour...4spd - cheap to fix.

XR6T is basic as, and is white (not my fav colour) and was probably thrashed to death...The price to fix a ZF...$$$$$

XT - ugly as hell...Probably won't get that now...

Then there's stamp duty, insurance, Mechanical check, maybe new tyres...Possibly over $3,500 on top of that.

It's still $19 as opposed to $25.

I was also considering an LPG conversion and I've heard that T's don't respond well to SVI systems, but do to liquid phase injection. XR8's respond well to both, and not knowing how far away LPI is, the XR8 seems a better choice.

If I had a choice, I would choose a T for sure, but we never get any chasers over here, and if we do, they cost lots more due to transport, liscencing, registration etc...

I guess I'll just wait and see then...

Cheers for the input guys,

Dan
