The news paper headlines were pretty damning, but it is their job to beat up and speculate. This is a big wake up call to everyone with high powered cars, Im sure every one on this forum has enjoyed their cars power at one time or another on a public road. (I didnt say speeding or racing), but a car with the potential of a modified T can get out of shape pretty quickly under certain circumstances. (I.e wet road, inexperience etc)Best wishes to those involved, glad no-one was injured.

I don't see many personal attacks going on here - just opinion. Keep it going, I say. I know a guy who was drunk and wrote off 3 cars, yet his insurance paid for all.I'd be cursing if a street-racing, drink-driving, unlicensed dude got paid out when I had to battle for a year to get my Mrs car fixed when a truck side-swiped it when it was parked and drove off. No witness of the actual collision, but a custom blue paint (corporate paint colour) down the side of our car, as well as 2 witnesses to the truck being double-parked next to ours within the 5 minute window. Curse you Vinidex and your ignorant employees! Ah, it's off topic, nevermind.

If they had full comp insurance, wouldn't that determine whether it is paid out or not?

I did not make a statement only an assumption.ok, I'll qualify that......I beleive you are wrong checked out NRMA policy document this morning.....there is about 3 or 4 clauses that they can use to cancel the policy. Now, are you telling me your policy document has no clauses around drink driving / reckless use / race or competition? I belive the court will be the final deciding factor to any payouts... like Zap said, It needs to be proven first.Chris, this is not right. Insurance companys dont need to prove anything to cancel the policy. The onus is on the insured to take action if they felt they have been unfairly dealt with. To Young? Doesn't matter what the excuse was, just a good thing that they are all OK, and it shows the strength of the BA-BFs. These silly buggers should have kept it on the track. The media will milk this for all its worth, and if ACA or TT cotton on to the tuning potential in these cars they will make a hell of a sing and dance about it and every T and Phoon owner in the country will be branded a hoon . Guess both these blokes are going to have a lot to think about as they sit in the bus seat for the next year or so. Maybe if they do get insurance payouts they can save up and get FG Phoons when they get thir licenses back.I'm 50 and I'm a closet hoon . You just have to make sure you get to the race track, or way out in the middle of nowhere and don't drive stupidly and dangerously down freeways, in any residential areas, or drag entrapment style police from the lights. Anyone who has built one of these cars up, and there are many of us, are closet or open hoons and all of us have given it a bit at one time or another. The insurance co did a complete investigation on him, telephone records, calling friends etc...They didn't end up proving that he was driving recklessly yet denied his payout due to "suspicious circumstances"Don't know I totally agree with ZAP re: the insurance payout. Making it out that it condones and encourages dangerous driving on streets when the truth is WSID stands for motor racing in the most controlled circumstances, wednesday night being a clear example with the drags called off at the slightest drop of rain. The media need to realise that we have sanctions for motor racing to promote the good nature of the sport and encourage safe driving on the open roads.F*CKING MEDIA
