2 P-platers Driving Xr6's Caught On M7

I first heard of it this morning when the chick reading the news comes on and says......

" Two men crashed their cars at Quakers Hill while imitating a race then had just seen at Eastern Creek"

" They were both driving Ford XR6 Turbos" and this has reignited the debate over "P" platers driving powerful cars.

First off.....Im glad to here that the kid who was injured will be ok......

They had obviously gone to the drags and done the right thing by putting their cars down the strip.....then left their brains in their helmets to drive home......hence the result.....

From a father's point of view......if one of my kids did this, he'd end up with my size 11 right in his backside for being stupid enough to get involved in a idiotic stunt like this.....

And I want to know how these kids afford these things......let alone paying the insurance......when I was his age, I remember having to save for 3 months just to buy a set of roller rockers......

And if you want to say ...... his familys got money....

Id also like to know what sort of father would put a kid only two years out of his teens into a car strong enough to be used by the HWP for pursuits.....

face book etc is very risky if your doin anythink not by the law even here you need to be carefull and look out for each other

I beg to differ. I had my licence , no car. My private school mates ( I went to a public school) had lovely gifts waiting in the driveway for their seventeenth. My old man , and rightly so , said you want a car you save up for it. Got my first car at 18, yes the old man helped me out with a portion of the rego as reward for me saving up. But that's it.

So you can shove the BS where ever you like. Subsequent to my first car I have worked damned hard to provide well for my kids, paid child support and alimony to my exwife ( my kids are in private schools thanks to me ) kept my home , still have the money to own a nice car and you call me on that and you don't even know me. I have paid more than most. I daresay my annual tax bill is more than you earn so STFU

You can pick up BA"s for high teens now which is not really a lot of money if they get a loan over 5 years (perhaps the most common thing?). I know when I finished studying at 19 I worked 45hrs a week at woolworths for $473 after tax. Doing that I managed to get a WRX. That was 6 years ago and I've now got young guys at work earning more than that now, doing part time work.

Only have to look at how many young people are going on OS travel, buying xbox 360's, nicer cars and big tv's etc. If you live at home these things are well within reach to many.

Keep in mind that a 22 year old is an ADULT. At 22 your old enough to know right from wrong, risks etc. How on earth is a parent going to stop their adult child buying a fastish car? At that age parents can really only advise their children. My dad hated the thought of me buying a wrx for my first car. Nothing he could do so instead he helped me find a decent one and then pushed me into as many track and driver training days as I could get.

Cars are easily replaced and thankfully no one was killed but these guys made one silly decision that could have ended up a lot worse. I'm sure it will be a steep and expensive learning curve for them so we shouldn't judge them too poorly.

EVERYONE in this forum has made poor decisions at some stage. Might have been cheating on a partner to drink driving and crashing into someone. It's what we do after we make these mistakes that shape the way we mature.

so you got my point it's a bit harsh to go judging every young bloke with a nice car .

and sorry if I got it wrong but I thought it was you who said they had a lotto win with their old's at one stage that help set them up

and if you payed that much tax you wouldn't be drivin a falcon .

I am starting to hear and read more and more about this incident and I cant help but to feel for the blokes involved, we all make mistakes and I sure these guys are going to be made to pay for a long time. so I would like to go on record and offer them support and encouragement to put this behind them and get on with their lives with a lesson learned for themselves and hopefully others.... cars dont kill people.. people kill people...
