TWO young men had their licenses suspended after an alleged Sydney street race during which a turbo car flipped on to its roof and burst into flames.

Emergency services were called to the M7 freeway at Quakers Hill in Sydney's west where a Ford XR6 turbo ute and Ford XR6 turbo sedan had crashed last night.

Both vehicles were eastbound on the freeway before crashing into each other, hitting a wire guard rail, an electronic overhead sign and power box.

"The sedan then came to rest on its roof and caught fire," police said in a statement.

Witnesses told officers the two vehicles were street racing prior to the smash about 9.30pm, police said.

A 21-year-old Baulkham Hills man behind the wheel of the sedan and his 22-year-old male passenger both escaped the burning car with minor injuries and were taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

The ute driver, a 22-year-old provisional licence holder from Maroota, was uninjured.

Both drivers will face charges of street racing, dangerous driving and other traffic offences as well as having their licences suspended.

The men will face Blacktown Local Court on a date to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, the NSW Fire Brigade says a fire at a Sydney panelbeating shop has damaged several exotic vehicles.

Firefighters were called to Queen Street Smash at Revesby about 1.30am today where a single storey brick and steel warehouse was alight.

"It looks like there has been a car alight outside the (business') spray booth," a fire brigade spokesman told AAP.

"Approximately 25 exotic motor vehicles were inside the business and there was damage to about 25 per cent of the vehicles in storage."

The remainder of the building and contents sustained smoke and heat damage, but there were no injuries, the spokesman said.

The fire was extinguished about 3am and investigators are now looking into the cause of the blaze.

The Queen Street Smash website says it specialises in vehicle repairs, restorations, modifications and custom paint finishes.

Details of the vehicles damaged by the fire have not been made available.
