2 P-platers Driving Xr6's Caught On M7

2 P-platers were allegedly caught racing on the M7, one crashed and rolled his car and its safe to say that the remaining undamaged car will probably be crushed and both will lose their licences for a substancial time.

Anyone want to own up to it? Or does anyone know the people involved? If either cars were utes I have a my theories on who it was.

Two men will lose their licenses after an illegal street race on the M7 motorway in western Sydney overnight which resulted in a serious collision.

About 9.30pm Quakers Hill Police and emergency services were called to the scene of the collision on the M7 about 1km west of the Sunnyholt Road exit at Quakers Hill.

Investigations into the collision are continuing, however witnesses have told police that the vehicles were street racing prior to the collision.

It appears that the vehicles, a Ford XR6 Turbo ute and a Ford XR6 Turbo sedan, collided while racing east bound on the M7. Both then collided with a wire guard rail, a solid electronic overhead sign and an electrical power box. The sedan then came to rest on its roof and caught fire.

Police who attended the scene extinguished the fire prior to the arrival of Fire Brigade officers.

The 21-year-old Baulkham Hills driver of the sedan and his 22-year-old male passenger from Glenhaven escaped the crash with minor injuries and were taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition. The driver of the ute, a 22-year-old P2 provisional license holder from Maroota, was uninjured.

Both men will be charged with street racing, drive in a manner dangerous and traffic offences.

Both men will have their license suspended and are due appear at Blacktown Local Court on a later date.

The collision caused the sedan to flip and catch on fire, police said.

Police extinguished the fire prior to the arrival of Fire Brigade officers.

Inspector Adel Atalla, from Quakers Hill police, said it was "absolutely incredible" the men had escaped with only minor injuries.

There had been few other vehicles on the road when the street race took place, he said.

The M7 was not a known hot spot for street racing, he said.

I was nearby at WSID where the drags were called off because of rain around that time (8:30pm). Slippery road may have contributed.

I just saw it on the news, hope both drivers OK. I though I knew who it was judging by the color of the car and rims with the big cooler and big exhaust but reading the articale above he doesnt live in that area I thought.

Oh yeh n just wanted 2 point out that although both drivers are P-platers, they could both have had their fulls for 2 years so dont sandbag P-platers for this one

I still blame P platers, as I know how many risks we all took then vs now. Mix it with easy-to-mod 12 sec cars = crazy. Are they even supposed to be driving XR6Ts?

Leave the street racing to us veterans. 4cyl n/a for all P-platers.

Just saw footage of this accident on Sunrise - I am 99.9% sure that both of these cars were at WSID last night. The yellow sedan had a Typhoon kit and decent power - ran 119mph. so around 350kw I guess

As Brian said there was some light rain last night, not a good idea to race in those conditions

Just depends when they actually got their licences. If they got their P1's before the 10th July 2005 (got mine on the 5th, waiting for my tax return to get my fulls) then they can legally but after that theyre either driving illegally or got an exemption. My guess is they got their licences back when they were 17, lost it for a fair while and got it back not that long ago so theyre still doing their overall 3 yrs of P-Plates.
