We test drove a BAMKII auto yesterday and whilst I loved the engine, the Auto didn't do a heap for me, probably just because I love the feeling of driving home the gears myself. I've read some negative comments about the manual box on the XR6T - did this get corrected in the MKII or is it best just avoided altogether? Also, the standard Ford leather leaves me pretty cold. Has anyone had leather installed aftermarket and if so how did it go? cheers, look forward to updating all on the purchase in the next couple of weeks! Is the BF auto a big improvement?
Guest Guests Posted 21/07/08 02:21 AM Share Posted 21/07/08 02:21 AM it's a must if you want to go for it with mods (and you will) as the 4spd is not strong enough

Strong enough for what mods exactly? I would be more inclined to ask myself how much power I want and how much draggin I intend to do. If a 4 speed is "built" well and more importantly "tuned" well, it will hold 350+rwkw no probs. But yes, the 6 speeds in both auto and manual are much better. Broaders77 Member 73 Member For: 16y 6m 15d Posted 23/07/08 11:59 PM Author Share Posted 23/07/08 11:59 PM Right, just put a deposit on a 11/05 BF auto with 48k on the clock - $16,900. It's an ex-NSW Police cruiser [insert arguments here], but as it's still under warranty I'm not too fussed. Checked with my flatmate who's a NSW copper and he said the highway boys keep their cars in great shape, plus they come with the upgraded brake package. The only problem is it's white which is not ideal, but at that price......thoughts?

Warranty is the key.I believe there is a misconception with the police cars. They can only go so hard in front of the public eye, I can almost garuntee that a private sale on a tricked up XR would have substained more of a bashing that what the cops would do.
