I tested the iphone 3G in a G6E Turbo today. Comes up on the dash as ipod not compatible or something like that and a message was displayed on the phone saying non supported accessory in use.

If you used the ipod controls on the phone, it played through the cars speakers exactly the same as it would using the auxillary line in.

So paying for the ipod cable for use with an iphone 3G is really just a farken expensive charger!

Given you can get USB style car chargers that work with the iphone for ~$20, it seems pointless unless ford update the ICC software to make them fully compatible or apple does something. (both not likely)

Forgot to add that the seek forward/backwards controls on the steering wheel and dash work but that is it.

So you've got charging and track selection but that's it, still fairly useless given the cost of it.

Hi guys,

The iPhone is still in beta stage with its bluetooth connectivity...

It will be fully bluetooth compatible once Apple releases a final patch having completely tested its bluetooth and worked out any and all bugs...

My uncle has an iPhone which he cracked to get all the connectivity from it... If anyone knows Mac it's him.

So just wait and see how your iPhone goes, because eventually there will be connectivity according to apple.

So it shouldn't be a vehicle option issue (unless you didn't choose bluetooth option - then it is lol) but it is an apple firmware lockup at the moment...

Hey guys,

From what I have found out about the iPhone, apple have locked down the blue tooth in order to prevent hackers stealing data - due to the fact that it is also designed to be used as a PDA like device... It also is a fact that iPhone won't connect correctly to your car, unless apple changes it... Ford can do nothing about it.

If you crack your iPhone, it does allow more connectivity to more devices, basically its all to do with a port being closed on the iPhone, the port is only open to iTunes from memory, but a cracked phone may connect (which is actually the reason I would buy one, for the awesome functions a cracked phone has)

So just to let you guys know, don't get your hopes up in getting it connected to your FG falcons (or any Falcon) because at the moment, apple are not risking anything with the bluetooth security risk.

A change in the future may be indefinate though, because at the moment the phone was released with full intent on accepting feedback and customer needs... and then catering for that. Especially with all the hype involved in the build up to release, I found it a bit dissappointing (its a phone that can't even forward sms - rather limited phone) so fingers crossed it picks up on the function side.
