I think if you look hard enough you will find elastic bands all over your car. Correct me if I'm wrong but I beleive they are sued during the build of the cars in the plant for some reason, I'm not exactly sure why. But when the part is on the car they just leave the elastic bands there which is why you will find heaps of them all over your new car. Nothing has been or is being held together by these so dont worry about it, just get rid of them as you find them so it doesnt look so bad haha. Pretty poxy I know but like an earlier post said, Welcome to ford cost cutting.

Rubber bands are used to keep things such as the wiring looms tucked away during installation to save them from damage, such as when the engine is raised into the body. If they didn't use them the wiring looms could get caught on underbonnet components or panels.

Nothing to do with cost cutting.
