if you start to put more than what you have used in a keep doin it over a period of time it gets looked at as an INCOME so then u have to start paying tax on it!

In the OVERWHELMINGLY VAST majority of cases you will NOT pay tax if you have a solar unit in a private home.

Bumpin an oldie...

Been a few years since this was brought up, anyone have a solar system installed and how do you find it?

I'm considering installing one if they are worth it.

It will be an out right purchase so will I be in front straight away or will I still recieve a power bill?

Not sure how the tax part is calculated. We only get one payment annually if in credit which tends to be minimal as heating throughout winter burns through the credits you build up during summer.

We still have a bill (you receive a bill regardless) but not having mains gas or water, we depend on electricity for almost everything. We have two water pumps that run throughout the day (one for the pool and the other to maintain water delivery and pressure to the house).

Electricity bill would regularly top $800 a quarter 5 years ago. Less than 1/3 of that now.

The green component is bullsh*t. It takes more electricity to manufacture solar panels than what they produce in a life time.

Power companies are encouraging solar panels as it helps keeps power running through the lines.

Years down the track power will go up and subsidies will go down.

It's a f*cking con.

Cousins daughter works for a mob in Breaside, just let me know a 5KW unit is 6500 and would give a 500 reduction on a quarterly bill....

....having second thoughts after seeing that price. :oooh:

I was expecting round the 4k mark.
