I know it's not the best thing but I can't get a good custom tune till Christmas time, although I should dyno it because it might be leaning like a bitch, but the tune seems fine.Anyway come Christmas time, I'mthinking of doin injectors and valve springs with a custom tune. Keeping the stock exhaust and cooler. What power do you think I could make with a good tune? I've heard the stock intercoolers aren't half bad, and the exhaust. If anything I might get something like a PW Stage 1 cooler, but I'd like to keep the stock one. Thanks !George Edited 13/07/08 12:20 PM by DjGsTa

I got mine when I was 19 and to date I think I was a little young to own a T.Good luck it anyway... Edited 13/07/08 12:53 PM by PURVIE

Being a BA you would get around 260 odd with injectors and valve springs. Although PURVIE is right, you shouldn't be modding the car at your age. If you feel you really have to modify it, do mods that are not visible. Tune, valve spring etc....From the RTA web page.Prohibited vehicles are those with: Eight or more cylinders (except diesel). A turbocharged engine (except diesel). A supercharged engine (except diesel). Engine performance modifications. Certain high performance six cylinder engine vehicles or other vehicles as described in the publication Novice Drivers - High Performance Vehicle Restrictions. I would think that if you are on your L's you haven't had the chance to do anything stupid in it yet, but I can gaurantee you will be doing something stupid in it come christmas time - we've all been stupid on our P's I don't care what you say.And check that you will be allowed to drive it on your P's, cos I'm pretty sure you can't in any state in Australia now.One last thing, we aren't trying to be the Fun Police and take away your enjyment here, but even though we don't know you, the last thing we want is to hear about a 17yr old that killed himself in an XR6 Turbo (or any car for that matter)Pat

My first car was a modded WRX that cost me a fortune. Lost my license for doing many silly things in the first month. When I got it back, my old man (old hoon) sat me down and suggested I forget about showing off on the street and head to as many track / driver training days as I could. He also did a brake upgrade on the wrx and made me pay him back. His words were "it doesn't matter what car your in, I know you will be a dickhead so why not do it safely and actually learn something".Also keep in mind, cost of doing stupid stuff on the street. Skid's are great BUT can you afford to buy new tyres every 2nd week?Your not going to listen to some sensible people on the internet, so why not make your car a sleeper (remove turbo badges etc) and do reliable mods (tune, springs, brake pads etc) and go get some experience whilst being silly and having a lot of fun.A few of us did an arvo skidpan day the other day (vids in the last few pages of WA chat section). That cost us $70. Getting caught doing the same stuff on the street would be 1K+ and major loss of license. Not to mention two instructors on hand or in the passenger seat to teach you. Hard to argue with that eh
hulk xr6t Member 160 Member For: 17y 3m 27d Posted 14/07/08 02:41 AM Share Posted 14/07/08 02:41 AM I know how it feels.. 17 year old at the lights in the XR6T and an SS rolls up.. Its almost criminal not to embarrass him but its also criminal to race him as other innocent people are using our roads as well and dont deserve to be rammed into. Let him go, its the lesser of the two evils. As a 17 year old, to say dont race the SS/WRx etc would be like sticking a hot topless girl in front of any of us and say "dont look". My advice would be leave it stock, take the turbo badge off it, stick some nice wheels on it and just cruise. You know you will munch the SS, why waste your petrol proving what you already know.Actually its probably better to modify it to over 300rwkw so when the boost comes on it just wheels spins. that's what I did with my car so now there is no point racing someone on the street as you know you will just wheelspin.
