Shell To Phase Out Shell V-power Racing

I thought you’d be interested to know that from the end of July ‘08, Shell will start to phase out its Shell V-Power Racing fuel in Australia.

The Shell V-Power Racing phase out from Coles Express sites in QLD, VIC, NSW & ACT will take around 6 months and will be finished at the end of the year.

Be assured that Shell V-Power, a 98 octane fuel, which has been developed with Ferrari, will be Shell’s performance fuel and continues to be available at Coles Express sites in QLD, VIC, SA, NSW & ACT.

Changing needs of motorists and their vehicles has played a big part in Shell’s decision. Shell is currently increasing the availability of Shell Unleaded E10 at Shell branded sites to make it easier for motorists to access the ethanol blended fuel.

Shell Australia would like to inform its customers in advance that from July 2008, it will be gradually phasing out Shell V-Power Racing fuel from Australia.

1. Why are you phasing out Shell V-Power Racing?

A changing market has been the major contributor to Shell’s decision to phase out the fuel.

Moving forward, Shell V-Power will be Shell's premium performance fuel. Shell V-Power will continue to be available at Coles Express sites in QLD, VIC, SA, NSW & ACT.

Shell is committed to supplying a range of quality fuels to meet the changing needs of motorists and their vehicles.

Shell is currently increasing the availability of Shell Unleaded E10 at Shell branded sites in Australia. This expansion will make it easier for more motorists to access the ethanol blended fuel.

2. What is the difference between Shell V-Power and Shell V-Power Racing?

Shell V-Power is a 98 octane fuel designed to improve the performance of many modern engines. This is aided by Shell V-Power’s Friction Modification Technology (FMT), which is formulated to reduce friction between the cylinder and piston rings, a critical area of the engine where lubrication is difficult to achieve. FMT is designed to help the engine turn more freely, and so help transfer energy from the fuel to the wheels more efficiently.

Shell V-Power Racing has the same engine cleaning properties as Shell V-Power but is formulated with 5% ethanol and is a 100 octane fuel.

3. Where is Shell V-Power available?

Shell V-Power is available through the Coles Express network in QLD, VIC, SA, NSW & ACT.

4. When will Shell V-Power Racing be unavailable in my area?

Shell will phase out Shell V-Power Racing from QLD, VIC, NSW & ACT over the next 6 months.

Shell anticipates the phase out of Shell V-Power Racing from QLD Coles Express sites will occur between 21 July and mid August 2008.

The phase out of Shell V-Power Racing from VIC, NSW & ACT will be completed by the end of 2008.

5. Why did you introduce Shell V-Power Racing?

Shell has consistently led the industry’s response to a changing fuel market driven by a combination of strong local and international R&D programs, and technical partnerships with market leaders such as Ferrari.

Shell introduced Shell V-Power Racing to meet the requirements of Australian motorists at the time.

Not impressed at all.

I'm surprised they'd remove something that actually works very well, and gives Shell an advantage over the rest of the market.

I was going to get my blue car tuned on that, then race with that, but that idea seems like a waste of time now.

Also I'll have to take my F6 auto out to WSID on race fuel.
