I studied metallurgy for 2 years in college when doing my fitting/machining apprenticeship. Have you tryed ftg auto salvage for another axle? they deal in xr6's and fpv wrecking and am pretty sure they have a few ba mk2 utes as well as a typhoon in there.

unfortunately they are in Vicco, but you mite get one cheap enuf to offset the freight up here. worth a try

I have sent them an e-mail to see what they have there, look em up on the internet and click on the xr6 parts on the right
