Hey guys

There's a few Capa flash tuners for sale around the place, and I'm just wondering, is it easy to get CAPA to reset the box after you've bought it?

Also, what if the box was originally used for another type of car, like a typhoon, or xr8... will capa reset the box to suit your car?

what cost is involved in doing this, and can it all be done remotely, or do you have to send it off to capa?

Cheers guys

As long as they have restored the factory tune to the original vehicle, then your tuner can unlock it and re-load the tune(s) to suit your vehicle. Doing this uses up one of the flash box's five "lives".

If the previous owner has left a non-factory tune in their vehicle then the box has to be sent back to CAPA and reset for a fee.*

Checkout the Edit Mythbusters Updated, Unlocking Edit Boxes thread for more info

Thanks, I didn't see that thread in my searches. Sorry mate.

Just a q though, what if I don't have a tuner at this stage and only want to run the 10psi default tune?

Do I send the tuner to Capa and then wait? How much does that cost?

Last time I spoke to Capa, they will not unlock/reset a box that has not returned the car to stock.

If you purchased a box 2nd hand and it had not flashed the previous car back to the stock tune, the box is worthless.

It said in the first post from that linked thread (as words from CAPA's mouth) that they will do it with a stat dec or something....but yeah worthless is a fair summary as it wouldn't be worth the effort. Valid point though Ratter; have added a disclaimer to my previous post :stupid:

Unsure with the generic tunes Antigravity - perhaps contact C&V or KPM and see what they have to say, as they sell these new with generic tunes so may be willing to help you out

The Conditions are

capa are able to reset a box that has not returned the car back to stock tune, but they will only do it if the original car was stolen or written off, but a police report or insurance paper work must be produced.
