woo! my pics were used in another thread.

Regarding the above intstall, The back firewall was not cut, the subs are full size 10' ones (not shallow) and the boxes were made in close range of the required enclosure volume (theres a calculator on the rockford fosgate site).

My advise when designing any audio system is don't be affraid of using gear for different manufacturers. Alpine offer very small footprint amplifiers the are extreamly efficent (less heat). These come very usefull for mounting undernieth seats or in close proximity to other equipment, in my install there is probably enough space for these on either side of the enclosure. Pioneer make shallow subs (but the require big power to run them well, so I've been advised) Rockford fosgate also do a shallow one too.

I would also add a 1 or 2 farad capacitor to your list to. While our cars have a 100+Amp alternator, you can still suffer from voltage drop at times of high current draw. A good battery also helps this problem. Our cars are very much based on electronics and these can be affected from voltage drop. I installed on in my system (it sits behind the amp) and I recomend it to anyone running a amplified system.

Cheers

Cam

I just got my basic setup put in today. Ran a 12ich sub in a box behing passenger seat, 4 channel amp under passenger seat and replaced the factory 4 5x7 speakers with some new soundstream ones, ran the whole setup from my standard sound system.

So you have a 4 ch amp only using 2 ch's to run one sub and the remaining speakers off the ICC? Should get ya self a monoblock amp to run your sub and use the 4 ch to drive your new speakers.

I agree with hanra, I believe it will sound better as well, seeing as you would be able to adjust hi and low pass filters separating the low frequencies and letting the subs deal with them, while leaving most of the mid and high frequencies to the speakers
