Could be something in the straight six design that retains heat. Longer water channels etc.

After a run you couldnt touch the bonnet. Turbos get very hot. The bonnet on the Falcon is large and its going to get hot. Not only that, most XR6's are darker metallic colours that absorb heat before you even turn em on!On the WRX the vents are removable. Each vent is designed to flow heat from the turbo and exhaust, helping to remove under bonnet heat. Many Falcon taxis run the battery in the boot to stop them from boiling in stop start conditions. With the WRX the intercooler is on tiop of the engine and thet boonet scoop flows cold air to it and in turn cools the engine bay as well. The WRX has also allowance for fitting a water spray to the intercooler , increasing boost. Well how do we fix this?. Well its simple - If its alright for lasers, Hyundais and old dungers to fit WRX bonnet scoops then so can we........Should go well with the A9X flair kit, Supercheap wheel covers and the stripe kit........Seriously an bonnet vent would be good thing....... It won't look as good as im sure FOMOCO didnt agree it was necessary to have one.

Having rallied a works Escort in the late 70's I understand the value of Ford development better than most. They do do their homework! At the end of the day we have a warranty but we cant get concerned about how hot they get. They are turbos and they wil get stinkin hot let me tell ya!cheers

Indeed, the conversion is relatively mild as the intake is boosted by a fairly modest 0.4 bar (6psi) by a big Garrett GT40 turbo. Besides the latest in bearing technology, this turbo features thermo-siphon coolant flow so circulation continues - taking heat from the housing and bearings - when the engine is switched off.I think just out of habit, and to be on the safe side, I'd be either driving sedately for the last minute of driving or so or just letting it sit for a little while, can't be too careful

Due to the technology used in the BA XR6 Turbo's, it is not necessary to install a Turbo timer on these vehicles. Oil and coolant are supplied to the turbo center housing. If you are after more information regarding this you are probably best to speak with your local Ford Dealership.Regards Jessica Provan New Falcon Site Team at the Ford Customer Relationship Centre Ph: 13 3673 (13 FORD) {Toll Free}Thanks again Jessica, dont know why the link say's Technical Inquiries but
