Hi to ALL

Just joined the forum (great stuff guys) and picked up my car last week

Im just curious about some things and im sure you guys will be able to help me.

I have a BF2 XR6 Turbo with the ZF Auto and was just wondering how the auto works on a dyno? Having had manual cars it was easy to hold 4th and give it.

With the auto, will it hold the selected gear when in manual shift mode?

eg select 4th gear and when you increase speed on the dyno, will it hold gear and not shift into third?

Also I have read that with the 4sp auto, some people have installed a trany cooler and underdrives to handle the extra power. Is this also necassary with the ZF auto?

Sorry if the questions have been answered before, if they have just direct me where to look.

Cheers, Simon

Not required for ZF. Feel free to change the fluid more then the book says.

As with anything it will depend on what you wanna do with your car. If you were going to be towing heaps, giving the car a hard time etc then a cooler wouldnt be a bad idea

Yeah, the operator will 'drive' it up to speed through the gears (can't select higher than 2nd when stationary) and it will hold it as long as there's no sudden accelerator application - otherwise that would invoke emergency kick-down (or whatever they call it)
