rspecf6 Banned 138 Member For: 16y 6m 8d Gender: Male Posted 31/07/08 09:10 AM Share Posted 31/07/08 09:10 AM I disagree as I would go the FGThe BF is a bit dated now and the new FG interior really provideds a lift over the old.The FG T will be quicker and should probably provide a better driving experience than the R-Spec could provide. My 2 cents. Can you clarify the better driving experience? based on what....................................power , shocks, springs, tyres,
rspecf6 Banned 138 Member For: 16y 6m 8d Gender: Male Posted 31/07/08 09:15 AM Share Posted 31/07/08 09:15 AM (edited) So because you don't like the look of the FG it's not as good??????So far I'd have to say you're in the minority on the looks debate (although not alone). As far as the better argument goes, lets look at it methodically:The driveline shunt, turbo issues and gearbox issues are not isolated to FG, as you said, they are more an update technically speaking so you are just as likely to have the same issues with a new BF.On the other side of the coin, the BF F6 is now 'retailing' for around the same spice as an FG T with a couple of options. Sure, if you wait, you will get a better deal on the FG, as with every new model there is a honeymoon period for the dealers where they have to do little negotiating to sell the cars, but that will slow down.It will be longer before 2nd hand FGs hit the market and their a newer model meaning their value retention will be a fair bit better than a run-out car, with pleanty on the 2nd hand market. Finally, the FG T is as quick or quicker than the BF F6, uses less fuel and will be cheaper on insurance. The fact that the FG T is more than a match for the BF F6, will only serve to further destroy the values of the BF F6s as well.thank @@@@ I did not buy a bf xr6 t then.................... If I'd have waited 2 weeks, I could have had an F6 for just $5k more than my T

They are sticking with the XR6T as a more "sensible" pursuit car.So there may be some better deals around the corner on these F6 as they are already being built. Mish Member 84 Member For: 15y 6m 1d Gender: Male Location: Canberra Posted 18/05/09 05:18 AM Share Posted 18/05/09 05:18 AM (edited) Bringing this topic back...this is the exact question I am asking myself. Doing my homework at the moment as the car won't be purchased till mid-end next year, but if I was buying right now...for the same money that I could get an '08 XR6T, I'd be looking at an 05/06 (maybe an 07, just maybe) F6. The pro's and cons of buying a car 2 - 3 years older for the same money...BF F6 - Looks tougher then the XR6T Has a lil bit more torque (but I mean 17nm when you're talking over 530, there's not much in it!)Much better brakes, especially if it has the premium brembo package FPV badge good-ness!FG XR6T - Doesn't look as tough, but I'm in the group that likes the look of the FGI'll be going manual and I believe the new box is better then the BF's (or are they the same?) Same power with better fuel consumptionI believe they are about the same time down the strip and to 100km/h (within a coupla tenths, close enough that the driver makes the difference)Better suspension = better handling then the BF, More modern interior with more gadgets.More advanced Stability, traction etc control. Is that about right? As long as the brakes are better then what was on my brothers AU Series 1 XR8 then that's a start! hehe!
