Thinking a series 1 FG XR6T is a better car than a last series FPV is not that smart, the FGs are already having turbo problems, and all series 1 cars have some issues. The FG still has driveline shunt and graunchy 2nd gear synchros as evidenced by people who have driven them, so it is simply a new model, not a quantum leap forwards. There are a lot of Arm Chair experts on the forums Playerz, they don't even necessarily own a BF or any ford for that matter, and they don't have to fork out the money and live with what they have bought.

FPV may be cutting the guts out of whatever phoons are left, but if the FG doesn't perform sales wise it will get the same treatment. YOU HAVE TO GET WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY.

Drive them both and then lay your dollars down. Whatever way you go many of those dollars will go up in smoke (and perhaps mods). A BF will never be an FG (thank god), but by spending just a little there is nothing an FG can do that a BF can't except for LOOKING FUGLY :welcome2:

There has not been a single case of a turbo problem with any production FG Turbo, only on a pre production model, so don't try to say they have turbo problems when not one single production model has ever had a turbo problem, the testing they did during the delay fixed it, that's why they didn't release any until it was fixed.

Hey Venom. I am just quoting what is in the latest wheels magazine. I am also sure there are plenty of BA & BFs that have had turbo problems too. I have driven the FG turbo and IMHO I didn't find it any better than a BF and the series one certainly isn't much of an improvement as far as looks or build quality goes. I wish Ford Aus all the best with them. Just not for me thanks

I am in a similar predicament. Having sold my BF F6 (good offer) and getting a territory 7 seater(gave the Black TTG back) I miss my car. Had a look at the FG XR6T and FG GT and I am not sold on their looks. I prefer the BF.

I have an option on another Black BF F6 just as before, and I am leaning towards that in preferance to an FG. Don't like the interior really.

I might just have a Black BF F6 again!

James

Though the FG XR6T and BF F6 share the same peak power figure, the FG has lower torque for starters, and uses 2psi more to achieve the power due smaller compressor wheel from what I've read on here and other places. However they say the car is more responsive due the smaller comp wheel so that's one plus.

Food for thought anyway.

Oh and 'Runout BF F6 FTW!!'.

FPV will always depreciate slower than a base model sourced variant. BF MK2 is a very well sorted out unit and even better in R-Spec guise. The manual I drove for a while was sheer poetry in motion. However the FG does have lifted the level on several fronts: interior styling, new manual gearbox ( a huge improvement over the last), better dynamics but exterior styling is still up for debate esp "rocky racoon". The G6ET looks like the pick of the crop with a beautiful interior and a classier exterior. On a performance basis according to the latest Wheels tests (FPV F6 vs GTS & G6ET vs Calais) the G6ET appears to be faster than the FPV 310, go figure?

Go with your head and your heart will follow, BF financially would be a better choice.

No they dont you just pay a premium over a base model and they depreciate at the same rate, if not worse....

Funny, I thought exclusivity changed that formula? Look at the 40th Anniversary GT or Cobra versions which are actually appreciating and will continue to do so. Now the F6 isn't quite as exclusive as these but much more so than a base turbo. Have you got any comparative figures? I would be very interested to know if that is the case.
