80 RPM Member 46 Member For: 17y 17d Posted 30/06/08 06:00 AM Share Posted 30/06/08 06:00 AM I asked this question myself Assuming that it is geometricly correct then really it should near balance itself when ladenand really more than 150kg down on the ball (in a normal 50mm ball) towing setup is at the upper end of the scaleI don't think this trailer was at all correct but even the ones you hire are quite heavy (but they have to withstand the idiot factor!)and to put it in a different perspective if it was unladen it should be light forward for the extra weight of the car put on top (assuming its front engined)that way you can trim it by having the car forward or back(again asuming trailer is long enough to do this)I have always towed it with my 4x4's and could balance the 5 on the trailer to the point that you would hardly know its there!I was just really suprised even with a 7x5 box tralier laden it sits down and squatsI probably should have done more research when trying to find a sutible car for what I wanted to do! as towing really wasn't a strong point as I found out! How can ford void their own warranties???Any thoughts on this??I have decided to try and go with the larger one, as that is what the dealership says they fit to most of thier utes.Anyone with a auto turbo ute have a towbar dealer fitted? If so, what rating did you get?

doogs8282 Member 22 Member For: 16y 5m 16d Posted 01/07/08 02:13 PM Author Share Posted 01/07/08 02:13 PM If I wasn't serious, I wouldn't be asking for peoples opinions...The info I have been getting is only second-hand from the sales guy from holden, where I am buying the ute from, talking to the ford dealer up the road from them. This is where they are getting most of the things fixed before I take delivery. What I am getting at is that I have been told that there is a 1200 and 2300 rated towpack that ford can fit, but the turbo is rated for 1675 in auto form. The ford dealer apparently said that they usually fit the 2300 tow packs to the utes. How many are turbo, I don't know... I only want to make sure I get the largest capacity tow pack that the warranty will allow. Surely if 1675 is stated as max towing capacity for an auto turbo, then they should have the appropriate tow pack to suit.Sorry if I sounded like I was having a lend of you guys, I just want to make sure I do things right, and I am getting conflicting info.I think I will ring my local dealership in the morning, and see exactally where I stand. Thanks for your input guys
