Hi,

Owner of a currently stock 03 BA XR6 Turbo. I'm wanting to do a few mods to get a bit more power.

Question 1. How much power is safe for the transmission, engine and driveline etc? The reason I ask, I have mate that got work done (Custom Tune, CAI, Exhaust, Valve Springs, Cooler, Fuel System) his car made 303rwkw at 12 psi. Since then he has done a gearbox and now has a crack in his turbo. Is this common with this much power?

At this stage I'm thinking of going for around 270 - 280rwkw. Whats required to achieve this kind of power? I was thinking Intake, Intercooler, Exhaurst and a custom tune. Is the fuel system capable of this?

My last question is, I'm in Dubbo NSW (5 hours from Sydney, 4.5 hours from Canberra). Who's the best tuner to take it to? CV Performance?

Thanks in advance,

Greenie.

You will need injectors and you may need valve springs , but other than that you should good to go.

As for breakages, depends on how you drive on how long your auto will last but I would budget for a tranny rebuild at some stage.

your auto should last with 270-280rwkw depending on how u drive it and how good you're tuner is. A great tuner is the key!!!

Heat will destroy your transmission ...best you fit a aftermarket tranny cooler if you want it to last, I had no problems with mine till 330rwkw.

if its a 5spd manual youll need a good clutch for a band aid or a t56 for a solution,as for if its a 4spd auto, anywhere from $2500-$4500 will prolong its life but I dont know how long for.

To save starting a new thread, I am now looking at getting a custom tune done on my 03 BA XR6T and was chasing 300kw or over at the wheels.

Do I (should I) need to port the wastegate, get an 8-10psi actuator or neither of these for this level to control boost without problems?

One thing I am sick of hearing is the swooshing noise on boost! its continuous up and down (sh sh sh sh) and was told its not a problem just annoying to me, is this the solenoid trying to keep boost under control or does anyone know what I am talking about?

My mods are-

Rapid V3.5 kit (big IC, 4" intake) NO plenum yet.

Xforce 3.5" exhaust with split dump pipe

Eugene injectors

intank Walbro pump

valve springs from Ian shmitt (xr8 springs?)

I just ask as I dont want to fork over a grand to Elite just to have to get it done and come back.

Cheers,

Brett
