I found a place in the US that sells tires Extrmely cheap, just figuring out shipment at the moment. For example: 255/40/18 Federal 595 SS = US$106 each. As I said I'm working out some shipping costs now, if it works out I'll get some more details...

*the SS is more of a street tyre, but you can get the RS for ~US$150-160 each I believe

I run federal rs595`s dude... who ya think put hanra onto them? :beerchug:

ive done more km`s on these than the dunlops I had before and they still got heaps of meat left on them... im not sure how they would wear on the front though, I only have them on the rear... I paid $390 but as brad has since dicovered, they can be had for around $350 now... it the rears that you will blow quickly coz of wheelspin in first 3 gears... with the semis, it holds in second if you have a nice progressive boost map...

so you run the 595 semi as a daily runner then?? do you do much highway or is it just street hopping in cairns. just thinking about heat build up over an hour & a half trip up your way from home???

some highway stuff, been to townsville and back, running around cairns and surrounds, tablelands a few times, upto port douglas a few times etc... I dont think you problem is on the HWY dude, the most wear is done when you boot it and light up the tyres... my old rear tyres lasted about 3 months after I got my tune, front tyres are still original. Now ive had the semi`s on for 6-7 months and they dont even look half worn....

If you want traction, you have no other choice...

my mate ben with 350rwkw, put them on all 4 rims and reckons it goes round corners like nothing else... dave loved them too when he drove bens car... if you buy these, you WILL NOT regret it I can assure you... your CV`s might beg to differ though :beerchug:

stuff the cvs nothin that cant be replaced. I think youve talked me into it. we've got a local dealer so I migh have to see how much I can twist him arm & try & get these other tyres sent packing (had to order for t/ville) your insight into this has helped a mile & made my decision alot easier. thanks. will have too catch up one day in cairns with brad & go rice burning!!! . also keen to head to brownsville & put the thing down the track & see what we can get out of it. maybe a little race fuel to boot, we might give the boys down south a little shake up. :beerchug:

put some Yokahama Advan 103 sports on the Phoon recently and the difference bewtween those and the sh*t Dunlop Sports max rubbish is like chalk and cheese.

Also pretty good value at around $400 per corner ( 19s). Nice and sticky too

Bridgestone RE001 is a better tyre from a performance perspective than RE050, and RE-01R (from Bridgestone Motorsport dealers) is a better tyre than both of them. If you want to try other brands I reckon you would also be happy with Falken Azenis RT615.

I really reckon RE-01R is what you want. It is an ultra high performance road tyre that is close to semi slick in performance.

The RE-01R replacement in Japan is RE11 which is supposed to be awesome but not available anywhere in Oz yet.

Yes the Bridgestone RE-01R's are bloody awesome and last year when I was looking they were the only semi slicks available in 19"

However BCL runs the best semi-slicks - the PZero Corsa Asimmetrico's 285/35/19

The PZero Corsa Asimmetrico's have a TREADWEAR RATING OF 60!!! :beerchug::wub:

PZero Corsa's are now available in 245/35/19 and will be my next rear tyres :roflmbo:

I think from the few comments so far that once you get this far up the hp tree that semis are the only logical decision. ive cancelled the other tyres for now & im gonna look into the federal 595 semi's to suite factory rims. reason being at this size there a hell of alot cheaper & at this width hopefully should be abit easier on the diff & cv's. & I want to try & keep as stealth as possible. the look on there faces are better when they dont know whats hit them, especially since they can barely hear me now!!! :buttrock:

I feel happier with the decision ive made now that theres a few blokes running around on them & not just around town. ive got the local tyre bloke chasing them up. he sell the federal in the 595 but only in the standard tyre but he can get them. he asked me what was the normal price so hopefully he'll come back with something good for me. cant wait to get them on & rock & roll. havent really been able to see the full nuts of the car yet because the tyres scream retreat retreat everytime I get excited!!! hopefully they can fit them this week. if I stick with the standard size will I have to roll the guards or should they be fine??? thanks again nick & brad!!!
