hi guys, today I left my car to get a custom tune done but it was found that my transmission needs to be rebuilt and has some problems. By the way my car is a 6 cyl ba. I was told that auto had some problems for sure and 100% I would have to get it done in 3 to 6 months of time, so if I can get a good deal and price, I want to get it done. im from melbourne and I would like to get some advices from your experiences. I have read afew threads here and as I understood there are afew places in Victoria I can trust which are bayswater, kewesh and nizpro, also I read that on couple of threads there are many places only knowing how to take money from people and never do good job.

and also I would like to ask to people who has rebuilt their 4asp auto, where did you get it done and how much and what works involved in your rebuilds?

Bayswater Autos.

They offer a couple of different solutions, so call them.

If you have muffed the planetries, you will be up for a bit. If they are, then Bayswater can fit a cryo treated set of older planetries.

Don't take the tranny shops word as to bands and the like. They all use standard Ford bands but some call them KEVLAR bands, which is a great way to up the price.

I can vouch for their work. My auto was rebuilt 3 times by PRESTONS and on the last time, I gave explicit instructions on the build after talking to Bayswater. Since, my car has been back to Bayswater for 2 fluid changes. The first revealed alot of metal, so we were concerned, but played the wait and see game as Phil could not fault the shifting in the before or after test drive.

Second change, which was done was just a looksee of the oil and it was in very good nick (only1500kms since the last change), and there was very little metal on the magnet. We concluded that at the time of the 3rd rebuild, Prestons had not flushed the system properly.

Bayswater used almost 10ltrs to clean the system the first time.

1 more vote for a nizpro box I just had mine done, so I cant really comment on it yet but I did my research and nizpro was the way I went.

Just remember most places are just building you a standed box, but its how they put it back togther that counts.

I know nizpro blueprint there boxs when they rebuild them to get the best clearances and pro long the life of the box.

for a standed nizpro box is around the 2200-2400 mark, but then you can opp for a modded coverter or an after market one which cost extra.

Are the nizpro boxes still built by yarra valley autos? I haven't heard much postive feedback on them...

Also, has anyone done more than 20,000 kms on a rebuilt box with 300+rwkw from bayswater or nizpro? Any freshly rebuilt box will feel ok for a while, I've read posts from forum members that have said their freshly rebuilt box is awesome, then a few months later it's been rebuilt again and again (re prestons).

And are you guys sure these boxes can only be rebuilt to standard? I've talked to Tony Dominello up here in Sydney, and he's told me that he does a total rebuild with new valve body, servo, planetaries and high energy bands for $3500. Also said that it's good for atleast 400rwkw, and is currently being used for 10.70's in an unopened ba sedan with 350ish rwkw.

My stock box is currently feeling a little fatigued (after 70,000km's on a stock box with 300rwkw, and no, I don't try to break the box when I'm driving it) and I can either get a cheap, stock spec rebuild, or a full house, and hope it is actually better.
